Worms Rumble Announced & Will Feature A Battle Royale Mode

Worms has been a staple of gaming since it was first released way back in 1995, and apart from a few spin off games, it has always followed the same concept. But this isn’t 1995; it is 2020, and gaming has changed a lot, and Worms is keeping up with the times. A new Worms game titled “Worms Rumble” has been announced and will feature a Battle Royale mode. In a world dominated by Fortnite, Warzone and Apex Legends, if you want to keep up with the times, a Battle Royale mode is always welcomed.

In the Battle Royale mode “Last Worm Standing”, you can queue either solo or as part of a trio. Like other Battle Royale games, the arena gets smaller as the match progresses, forcing engagements. And when you or your team is eliminated, you just queue for the next one.

The game also features a “Last Squad Standing” mode which is similar except your teammates can revive each other. But if Battle Royale isn’t your thing, don’t worry, because a regular deathmatch mode is still available.

Another big change is that the game will play out in real time rather than the usual turn-based combat. Movement has been tweaked, too. In previous Worms games, the player would slowly shift across the floor, but because this is a more high action game, Worms can now roll around as well as do wall jumps and dodge.

Worms Rumble is due to launch on PC, PS4 and PS5 later in 2020, The game will also support cross-platform play. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will be coming to either Xbox consoles or the Nintendo Switch, or at least not right now.
