WoW Classes Ranked From Least to Most Fun to Play

Updated:
WoW classes ranked

I’ve been playing WoW since early Wrath. I mostly roleplayed, because I’m a nerd like that, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But over the years I’ve tried every class, and some are just way more fun than others. This is, in my opinion, all of the WoW classes ranked from least to the most fun to play. Again, this list is MY OPINION, based on my own experiences.

12. Priest

Priest was the second class I levelled to the max, way back in Cataclysm. Back then, I had a lot of fun playing a Disc priest in Tol Barad. Smite healing, regardless of how weak it was back then, was really fun! Deal damage AND heal!

And then every expac after that I could barely bring myself to log onto my priest. I have no idea why, but the fun disappeared.

11. Rogue

BEFORE YOU CRUCIFY ME…I know that rogues are very good. I know this. I myself just could never grasp the mechanics of playing a rogue well. I tried dozens of times over fourteen years, and each time I just. Couldn’t. Grasp it. Yes, I know, build up combo points and then use them. But which ability to use and when, and managing cooldowns…

It was all beyond me. I suck with rogues, and that made it not fun for me. That being said, pickpocketing NPC’s was a good time.

10. Death Knight

I admit, I never really gave Death Knights a chance. I started playing WoW in early Wrath, but back then you actually had to unlock the Death Knight class. So I played another class until I could, but then by that time I had grown fond of my main.

What little I did play a Death Knight, however, just seemed kind of bland. It wasn’t a hard class to play, it just seemed like it was a Warrior with some extra bits thrown in. In a word, Death Knights were ‘meh’.

9. Druid

The only time I ever enjoyed playing a Druid was when you could perma-tree and run around throwing HoTs on people in a battleground. That was it. Once they made tree shifting temporary, I stopped playing my Druid altogether.

I had no interest in tanking in what was a reskinned Warrior, DPSing in a reskinned Rogue, or thunderclucking it up with some Moonfire. I tried them all out, but they couldn’t grab my attention as tree form could.

8. Warlock

Ah yes, the cross between a hunter and a mage, with more edge than the sum of their parts. Warlocks were a bit fun at the lower levels. Pulling a whole bunch of mobs, throwing DoTs on them, and then draining life to stay alive while they futilely hit you with their sticks until they die was entertaining.

And then I tried to PvP with them (remember, I’m not a PvPer..) and I absolutely failed. Hard. Hard enough for me to reroll my toon on that server into my main class.

7. Monk

Now we’re getting into the ‘fun but not the most fun’ classes, in my opinion. No question, I had fun playing a fat panda monk, rolling around and throwing my fists and feet at things like I was trying to stamp a passport with them. I just didn’t have as much fun as the next several classes. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much the only reason Monk is at #7

6. Demon Hunter

One reason: Gliding.

*shrug*

No I’m not joking, that’s the only reason I put them at #6.

5. Hunter

I thoroughly enjoyed playing my dwarf hunter. I spent countless hours roaming Azeroth and using Beast Lore on different animals to read their info and tame them. No matter how many pets I could tame, my favourite will always be the first turtle I ever caught, WAY back in 2008.

Nibbs, you dumb rock with legs, I still love you.

4. Paladin

When I first started playing, Paladins were nigh unkillable. I heard it was worse before Wrath, but let’s not speak of those days… Bubble Hearthing was a thing, and if you Bubble Hearthed YOU’RE STILL A COWARD!

*deep breaths*

But for real, I levelled my first Paladin in BfA, and I had a blast. I did a mountain of damage while not dying, which was always pretty fun. Paladins also have some of the coolest looking armour in the game, in my opinion. Except for that plate skirt, that makes no sense at all.

3. Shaman

Back in Cataclysm, after my interest in my Priest died off, I made an elemental Shaman. Back then, you ALWAYS had the option to run and cast Lightning Bolt. Ele Shamans were SO OP in Battleground simply for that one fact.

Throw in Ascendance and Spiritwalker’s Grace, you LITERALLY became an elemental demi-god, throwing out costless, cooldownless instacritting Lava Bursts. I abused this in 2v2’s… The only time I’ve ever done well in non-BG PvP.

2. Mage

I genuinely don’t know where to begin with Mages. From level 1 they’re strong. If you ran arcane and like to PvP, all you had to do with bind Arcane Missile, Blink, and Polymorph, and you could carry a BG like you were born to do so.

How about Frost Mage? Oh, you mean that Mage you can’t kill who also does stupid damage, and has a water elemental? Don’t get me started on Fire Mages and their ‘F*** You World” burst damage… I love Mages. I suck with them, hard. But I love them. Not as much as I love my #1…

1. Warrior

I will never get tired of playing Warriors. Every time I make a character on a new server, it’s a Warrior. I have four Warriors on my main server, 1 Protection, 2 Arms, and one Fury. The mobility, the combos going from kill to kill, the bloodlust, the self-healing, the straight-up carnage a single warrior can cause if played skillfully enough. *chef’s kiss*. Warrior is the most fun class in Wow, in my opinion. Bar none.
