ARK: Survival Evolved is a game where players must survive on one of the several maps that are filled with monsters, dinosaurs, and natural hazards. Survival is determined by a lot of factors and one resource that many players overlook in the early game is Metal. Here are all the metal locations in ARK: Survival Evolved.
What Resources are Essential in ARK: Survival Evolved?
Players need to keep track of health, stamina, hunger, thirst, and also a maximum weight limit. The game is filled with dangerous encounters. And if a player takes damage, the health bar will decrease and eventually will start regenerating if they have enough food or equipment.
Regarding resources, there are a few key resources players will need to look for:
- Thatch is the first thing players will need to gather for fuel or crafting as it is used in over 150 items.
- Wood is a resource that players will need in enormous quantities throughout the game for cooking, crafting, building, and many other uses.
- Stone is the next resource and it is used for crafting one of the most important tools, the pickaxe with which you can start exploring and gathering all sorts of important resources
- And finally, the most important resource for jumping to a new technology level is the metal ore or iron ore, which is crucial for many medium to high-end crafting items for defense/offense.
Where to Get Metal Ore in Ark Survival Evolved
Ark Survival Evolved has several locations where the player can live, build, fight and thrive. In every location, players can find resources spread around the map in different forms. Metal ore exists in 3 forms in ARK: Survival Evolved:
- Rich Metal ore
- Metal ore
- River rock with small amounts of metal
The Island
To begin with “The Island”, players can find metal in the higher altitude zones. For example, on this map, there is a lot of Rich Metal ore in the North West snowy biome (red circle).
Normal metal ore is present on pretty much all of the maps in the higher altitude zones (yellow circles). River rocks are present near the majority of rivers with a higher concentration on the South West side (grey circle).
The Center
Then, on the map “The Center” there are Metal deposits pretty much everywhere on the map with the highest concentration being in the volcano area. There are also several western locations with Rich Metal Ore that players can explore.
Scorched Earth
On the map “Scorched Earth” you will find metal ore everywhere on the map but in some zones, there is a higher concentration of it as you can see on the map marked with red circles.
Ragnarok
On the map “Ragnarok”, players will find metal in scattered locations rather than in a few concentrated ones. However, there are underwater metal deposits too. All the locations on the map have a high concentration of metal ore, both rich and normal.
Aberration
On the map “Aberration” the metal is present in very large quantities on almost 60-70% of the map. The highest concentration of metal ore is in the southern part of the map. The northwestern part does not host any metal.
Extinction
On the map “Extinction” the metal is spread around quite similar to the Ragnarok map. There are almost no areas with a high concentration of metal. Still, there are some areas that have more metal nodes than others such as the mid-southern location marked with a golden circle.
Volguerro
On the “Volguerro” map the best way to get metal ore is to head North in the snowy biome. There you will find metal everywhere, there are also some little locations spread out throughout the map marked with red circles.
Crystal Isles
On the map “Crystal Isles” metal is only present in a high quantity in the center of the map. It is also present in small quantities in several other locations.
Lost Islands
On the map “Lost Islands” metal is quite hard to find in large quantities. The best option would be to head over to the Southeast part of the map. There you will find the only location with a considerable amount of metal ore.
The Genesis 1
On “The Genesis part 1” map the metal is present only in 3 biomes: Volcanic, swamp, and forest. The highest concentration of metal is found in the Volcanic area.
The Genesis 2
Finally, on “The Genesis part 2” map the metal is present in very large quantities throughout the whole map. They are especially easy to find in the western part. The only area with a lack of metal is the center of the eastern part.
