Best Builds for Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies

Zombies builds

If you are playing Zombies in the team it’s always best to split responsibilities and have dedicated loadouts for every member. It’s more efficient and more fun. Inspired by the classic class system we present you the best builds for Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies.

These builds are ideas that can serve as a starting point for you to make your own builds. Keep in mind as these builds are more focused on playing as a team, using them solo will not be as effective. But don’t worry, you can tune them up to your personal preference and go make some noise on your own!

Note: Descriptions of the covenants and artifacts are here. It will be way easier to understand the builds once you know them.

Assault

This guy is an upfront killing machine. Your main priority is to deal damage and kill zombies. The best weapon for this kind of job is an assault rifle with a good fire rate. Something like STG44 or Automation.

Avoid using weapons like BAR as it has 20 rounds in the magazine and a low fire rate. It was made for long-distance encounters which are for another build. Machine Guns are also not recommended as reload will take forever and the Assault is meant to be constantly dealing damage.

Artifacts are here for the DPS purpose as well. Clear out the enemies with a bang and some help from the covenants. The Dead Accurate is a must-have while others can be adjusted depending on your teammates.

  • Weapons: Assault Rifles
  • Artifact: Energy Mine, Frost Blast
  • Covenants: Cull the Weak, Dead Accurate, Unholy Ground

Engineer

As an engineer provide as much offensive support as you can. Core parts here are slowing effects from Cryofreeze or Frost Blast and buff from Ring of Fire. This build is also the only one that prioritizes equipment and its usage with buffs like Mother Lode and Splatterfest.

Engineer is not super picky when it comes to weapons, anything that works mid-range will do. Even machine guns are good for the Engineer. Look at the engineer as a Sup-DPS. They deal damage while providing tactical support.

  • Weapons: Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns
  • Artifact: Ring of Fire, Frost Blast
  • Covenants: Cryofreeze, Mother Lode, Splatterfest

Medic

As a medic, your additional responsibility will be helping teammates that are in desperate need. Use Aether Shroud to slip between zombies and quickly clear out the enemies around your friend with a submachine gun or a shotgun. And if your teammate is already down, a pack of special covenants will make the reviving much faster.

The core concept of this build is getting into fights at a very close range which is why as a recommended weapons categories there are shotguns and submachine guns. Up close, Bloodlust also becomes very viable as it enables you to one-shot the regular zombie with a melee attack.

  • Weapons: Submachine Guns, Shotguns
  • Artifact: Aether Shroud
  • Covenants: Ressurectionist, Bloodlust, Brain Rot

Scout

Scout or Sniper is the only long-range unit here. Zombies in Vanguard don’t really have any long-range situations so a sniper rifle is probably overkill. On the other hand, Marksman Rifles or Bar are perfect for this role.

You remain behind your teammates and pick off enemies one by one mostly staying still. Scout becomes more effective with Unholy Ground and Deathblow especially if you remain still. And your artifact of choice and bloodlust are an escape if for some reason you found yourself surrounded.

  • Weapons: Assault Rifles (like BAR), Marksman Rifles
  • Artifact: Aether Shroud, Energy Mine
  • Covenants: Death Blow, Unholy Ground, Bloodlust

Build-a-Class

The beauty of Call of Duty: Vanguard is that you can build whatever you want. The listed builds are kind of made for playing in a four stack. But with the freedom of Vanguard Zombies, you can mix and match stuff. The engineer and assault may as well be a single person, or medic and engineer to make the most efficient support in the game.

Don’t be afraid to experiment. That’s what it’s for after all. And with the new content that will be added to Zombies, there will be new guides on builds and more ways for us to enjoy the Call of Duty: Vanguard.
