Not only can you aim with canted laser sight rifles really quickly, but they’re also accurate at longer ranges. Weapons like snipers aren’t really for canted hip fire aiming though, especially if they have slower fire rates. However, the SP-R 208 marksman rifle absolutely decimates enemies with a canted laser.
Best Canted Laser SP-R 208 Loadout in Modern Warfare 2
Even without canted sights, the SP-R 208 is the best bolt-action marksman rifle in Modern Warfare 2 right now. It performs better than almost all other bolt-action rifles, and its fire rate is absolutely unmatched.
The only real flaw is its damage range, which is low when compared to other high-caliber sniper rifles. But that won’t matter as much, seeing as how most of the 6v6 maps are quite small.
SP-R 208 Attachments
The most optimal canted aiming attachment setup for the SP-R 208 looks something like this:
- Laser: Canted Vibro-Dot 7
- Barrel: 22.5″ Elevate-11
- Magazine: 10 Round Mag
- Stock: ZRL T70 Pad Extension
- Bolt: FSS ST87 Bolt
Given how lackluster the SP-R’s damage range is, the 22.5″ Elevate-11 barrel is necessary to give you more of that. Moving on, the Canted Vibro-Dot 7 laser sight is required for you to be able to go into canted aiming mode.
The 10 Round Mag is necessary. The default size of 5 is just not going to cut it if you want to frag out further. The ZRL T70 Pad Extension stock is also a very important part of this build, as it’s gonna increase your aim down sight and even sprint speed.
The FSS ST87 Bolt however is more of a suggestion than it is a requirement. If you feel like the SP-R needs a faster rate of fire, then slapping on this bolt will achieve that.
Secondary, Equipment & Perks
Now that we’ve covered all of the attachments that your canted laser sight SP-R 208 is going to need, let’s see what secondary weapon, equipment, perks, and field upgrades would work best in this loadout. Here’s a list of everything we’d recommend pairing with it:
- Secondary Weapon: X13 Auto or Riot Shield (Overkill)
- Base Perks: Scavenger & Double Time / Overkill
- Bonus Perk: Cold-Blooded or Fast Hands
- Ultimate Perk: High Alert or Birdseye
- Tactical: Stim or Flash Grenade
- Lethal: Drill Charge
- Field Upgrade: Tactical Insertion or Portable Radar
The X13 Auto is your best bet when it comes to a secondary pistol with this loadout. It’s fully automatic and should disperse anyone that you couldn’t finish off with the sniper. If you don’t want a pistol, then you can always run the Overkill perk and get a Riot Shield to protect your back.
The base perks are quite standard. Scavenger is a must – the SP-R 208 doesn’t have a lot of starting base ammo. Whether you choose Overkill or Double Time depends on your playstyle, more aggressive players will definitely benefit from Double Time.
Equipment-wise you’re going to want to give with either a Stim or Flash Grenade. A stim shot is better for players who willingly choose to engage, but the flash complements stationary players more. A Drill Charge on the other hand is necessary for clearing out buildings and vehicles.
Lastly, the Field Upgrade in this loadout isn’t all that important, but it will enhance your experience regardless. Tactical Insertions go a long way in regard to keeping your momentum going. Portable Radars are also useful, but less so if you love to run around.
Alternative Canted Laser Sight Weapons
The SP-R 208 may hold the title of the best-canted laser sight loadout in Modern Warfare 2, but there are also other worthy contenders:
- SA-B 50
- Lachmann 762
The SA-B 50 has similar stats to the SP-R 208, but what makes it a great option for canted laser sights is the fact that it has the XRK Specter Mod stock attachment. This stock attachment increases sprint to fire, aim down sight, and movement speed, letting you play with it as if it was an SMG.
The Lachmann-762 is a semi-automatic battle rifle that’s in every way different from the SP-R 208. It may not be the best weapon, but it kills players immediately if you manage to hit a headshot. This 1-shot headshot ability is what makes it good when paired with canted laser sight aiming.
