Builders are perhaps the most essential upgrade to unlock in Clash of Clans. While the first 5 Builders are simple to get (they can be bought with Gems in the Clash of Clans store), the 6th is much harder to unlock. We’ll cover exactly how to unlock the final Builder down below.
Unlocking the 6th Builder
To unlock the 6th Builder for your Clash of Clans Home Village, you’ll first have to build and fully upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut in the Builder Base.
The Builder Base is a bonus base that you unlock when your Home Village reaches Town Hall level 4. To unlock the O.T.T.O Hut, you’ll have to upgrade the Builder Hall to its maximum level of 9. Once your Builder Hall is at level 9, you can build the O.T.T.O Hut for 100,000 Builder Gold.
You’ll have to upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut to its maximum level of 5 before you can get the 6th builder in Clash of Clans. Unfortunately, the O.T.T.O Hut doesn’t require resources like Builder Gold and Builder Elixir to upgrade, instead requiring you to complete four specific challenges to max it out.
Keep in mind that you can complete these challenges simultaneously to speed the process up.
The First Challenge – Gearing Up
The first challenge takes the O.T.T.O Hut to level 2 and involves ‘gearing up’ defensives in the Home Village.
To complete the challenge you’ll have to gear up a Cannon, an Archer Tower, and a Mortar. You must level up both your Home Village and Builder Base defenses before you can do this.
Here’s the required upgrade levels to unlock gearing up:
- Cannons require a level 7 Cannon and level 4 Double Cannon to gear up.
- Archer Towers require a level 10 Archer Tower and level 6 Builder Base Archer Tower to gear up.
- Mortars require a level 8 Mortar and level 8 Multi-Mortar to gear up.
Once you have all three types of defenses geared up, the O.T.T.O Hut can be permanently upgraded to level 2.
The Second Challenge – Upgrading the Cannon Cart
The next challenge will upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut to level 3. You’ll have to upgrade the Cannon Cart troop to level 18 to complete it. This is one of the longest challenges you will need to complete to get the 6th builder in Clash of Clans.
The Cannon Cart is a Builder Base troop that is unlocked by leveling a Builder Barracks to level 7. The earliest you can do this is Builder Base level 5. As soon as you unlock the Cannon Cart, start upgrading it in the Star Laboratory.
You’ll have to reach Builder Base level 9 before you can upgrade it all the way to level 18, but it’s best to get a head start as soon as possible. It costs an absolute mountain of Builder Elixir to upgrade the Cannon Cart to level 18, so get ahead early to avoid waiting weeks to finish this step.
Once the Cannon Cart reaches level 18, the O.T.T.O Hut can be upgraded once again, reaching level 3.
The Third Challenge – Upgrading the Mega Tesla
To upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut to level 4, you’ll have to upgrade the Mega Tesla to level 9. The Mega Tesla is a defensive tower unlocked at Builder Base level 8. Since the Mega Tesla is unlocked at a high Builder Base level, you won’t have the ability to start upgrading it early on.
Luckily, upgrading the Mega Tesla is one of the only O.T.T.O Hut challenges that require Builder Gold to complete, so it’s fairly easy to keep it upgrading at all times, while you use your Builder Elixir to complete the other challenges.
Once the Mega Tesla is finished upgrading, you can upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut to level 4, leaving you with one final challenge.
The Final Challenge – Upgrading the Battle Machine
This is the big one. The final O.T.T.O Hut challenge requires you to upgrade the Battle Machine until it reaches its maximum level of 30. This is a huge task, as the Battle Machine is essentially the Builder Base’s take on Heroes such as the Barbarian King or Archer Queen.
Like the Heroes it’s based on, the Battle Machine takes a ton of resources to max out, with a total cost of over 70 Million Builder Elixir. Luckily, you can start upgrading the Battle Machine as early as Builder Hall level 5.
With consistent building and careful management of Builder Elixir, you can hopefully avoid spending too much time grinding Battle Machine upgrades. Once this final challenge is complete, the O.T.T.O Hut will reach its max level, creating an O.T.T.O robot that acts as an additional, 6th Builder in Clash of Clans
Getting the Final Builder
Once the O.T.T.O Hut is at level 5, you’ll gain a second Builder in the Builder Base. You can now tap on the O.T.T.O Hut to bring up the option to send a Builder to your Home Village. Doing so will bring your total number of Builders to 6, and finally, max out your base upgrading potential.
