Cult of the Lamb: How to Bury a Body

Published:

Many things can go wrong in Cult of the Lamb if you don’t bury dead bodies quickly. Dead followers will begin to rot, and spread disease, adding more dead to the pile. Luckily, safely burying a body is easy once you know how. We’ll cover exactly how to bury a body and make the most of a bad situation down below.

When a follower dies, the race is on – you must act quickly to avoid an outbreak of sickness. Head over to the body and select the ‘Prepare for Burial’ option in the menu. This will wrap them, ready for burying.

Next, use 10 Coins and 5 Lumber to build a Body Pit in an area of your choice. Bring the corpse over to it, then select ‘Bury Body’ to place it inside.

That’s everything you need to do to bury a body and avoid disaster in Cult of the Lamb. If you want to take damage control a bit further, there’s a few more actions you can take to avoid death taking a toll on your surviving followers.

You’ll lose 20 Faith every time a follower dies. Luckily, you can recover this Faith through the simple act of performing the Funeral ritual for a recently dead follower.

You’ll have to unlock this ritual by using Commandment Tablets in the Temple. Funerals are vital for mitigating the damage caused by a death in the cult, so be sure to unlock them as soon as you can.

There’s one more way to lessen the impacts of a follower’s death – the ‘Belief in Afterlife’ Doctrine. By unlocking this Doctrine in the Temple, all followers will gain the Belief in Afterlife trait. This will cause them to only lose 5 Faith when a follower dies, instead of the default 20 points.

Combining this trait with the performance of a funeral will lead to a death actually increasing your overall Faith, rather than lowering it.
