DBL Poney Close Out Flashpoint 3 Qualifiers

Updated:

The Flashpoint Season 3 Closed Qualifier has come to an end, with Complexity, Mousesports, Sprout, Anonymo and DBL Poney moving up to the main event, where they will face some of the most fierce teams in their region for the first points in the 2021 RMR Season.

Set to take place in May, this will be the first Flashpoint tournament after the departure of their former Creative Director Duncan “Thorin” Shields.

For Season 3, Flashpoint has dropped the franchised league format to become the first of the many Regional Major Rankings (RMR) events directly sponsored by Valve that will determine who will be present at the Stockholm 2021 Major.

While some teams will inherit spots at the main event due to their success in the 2020 RMR Season, others had to go through a series of Qualifiers to secure their seat.

Teams Directly Invited to Flashpoint 3

  • Heroic
  • Astralis
  • BIG
  • G2
  • FunPlus Phoenix
  • NIP
  • Vitality
  • FaZe Clan
  • OG
  • Fnatic

Complexity and Mousesports where the first to qualify through the Closed Qualifier, dashing through the upper-bracket. They will clash later on today to determine who will grab the best seed for the main event.

The Polish squad of Anonymo, headlined by former Virtus Pro player Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski, has also qualified with 2-0 victories over the likes of ENCE and Dignitas.

Sprout have also crawled their way to a spot in Flashpoint 3, with two back-to-back 2-1 victories securing an important event for the now fully German roster.

Last but not least, DBL Poney took over the last spot of the Qualifier with a win against HAVU. What is essentially a “semi-mix team” composed by high profile French free agents has 2-0’d the Finns to reach the RMR event.

However, Nathan “NBK” Schmitt, which has played for the roster since he left OG, won’t be joining the team for this next stage, with the 26 year-old bound to sign for a different project in the near future.

Flashpoint has yet to announce what will happen to the slot of ex-North. With the Danish organisation having ceased operations, the players are still evaluating their options for the future.
