How To Respawn in Don't Starve Together

Don’t Starve Together includes many complex mechanics that players can use to survive in the harsh world. In Don’t Starve, when you die, you lose it all. To create an environment for players to learn the game, there’s a way for players to revive if they die. Here’s our guide on how to revive in Don’t Starve Together.

How to Revive in Don’t Starve Together

If you manage to survive for many days in the harsh and cruel world of Don’t Starve Together, it can be very frustrating to die. Luckily, you have a few options available at your disposal to revive and keep progressing in your save.

Here are a few things to know before diving in:

  • All revive options are at specific locations and require prior interaction BEFORE dying.
  • Reviving has a “Resurrection Penalty” that negatively impacts you
  • When you revive, you spawn WITHOUT items

All the revive options spawn in random locations, so make sure you know where you are when you revive so you don’t die again instantly and lose your save. Also, since you’re spawning without items when you revive, don’t start the resurrection process at midnight just to instantly die because you had no light source.

And finally, keep in mind the season your world currently is in. If you respawn without items in the middle of the winter, you will die of cold. Make sure to place some useful items like a chest with basic resources, a fireplace, or a thermal stone around your resurrection locations.

Haunt the Florid Postern (Only available in Endless mode)

The Florid Postern is the gate that spawns you into the world of Don’t Starve Together when you start a new save, and it’s also a place you can revive at. If you die in the endless mode, you spawn as a ghost. Since the Florid Postern is the first thing you interact with in the world, it will be marked on your map.

Just navigate to the Postern as a ghost and haunt it, and you will respawn. Respawning with the Florid Postern does not require any additional resources, you can just interact with it and you will respawn.

When you use the Florid Postern, besides the Resurrection Penalty debuff, you will receive a -25% on your Base HP. To recover from this, you’ll need to craft a booster shot and use it to heal. Keep in mind that this is only available in the Endless mode of Don’t Starve.

Touch Stones

Touch Stones are scattered throughout the world at random locations. To activate a touch stone, simply interact with it while you are alive. When you are dead, you’ll have to make your way from the place of your demise to the nearest touch stone that you have activated.

This is why touch stones are a much less convenient option to revive because when you die in Don’t Starve Together, you have a time limit to respawn before your world gets reset. If you are far away from one, you may lose your save. They are also one-time use per world, per player. This is the only revival option for the Hardcore mode.

Telltale Heart

The Telltale Heart is the best way to revive your friends if you’re playing in co-op. The Telltale Heart is a craftable item that requires only three grass, one spider gland and an alchemy machine to create.

If one of your friends is dead, simply give this item to their ghost and they will revive. Keep in mind that this item also gives a -25% to base HP debuff. It is one of the simplest methods of revival, however, it requires a lot of sanity to craft and the debuffs are pretty hard to ignore.

Meat Effigy

The Meat Effigy is the best, and simplest method for solo players to revive. The Meat Effigy is a placable structure that can be crafted with 4 boards, 4 beard hair, and 40 HP. Upon crafting it, you can place it wherever you want inside your base.

If you die while you own a Meat Effigy, a button will appear under your calendar that can activate your effigy and spawn you where you have placed it, consuming it. It is one of the better methods of revival because you can choose where you spawn and you don’t have to worry about supplies when respawning.

Life-Giving Amulet

The Life-Giving Amulet is another craftable item that can resurrect players. It is one of the best late-game items to craft in Don’t Starve Together. It requires 3 gold, 2 nightmare fuel, and a red gem. You can also get it as a drop from certain monsters.

When you die, you can just haunt it as a ghost and you will respawn right where you died, putting all monsters to sleep in the process. It also heals you while you hold it in your inventory every 30 seconds, but it makes you lose hunger.
