The characters in Far Cry 6 were introduced via gameplay trailers, highlighting the important roster that will be leading the game’s story on the island of Yara. This guide will give you an in-depth look at the protagonist Dani Rojas, Giancarlo Esposito’s Antón Castillo, and many more.
Resistance rebels and pet crocodiles are also on offer in Far Cry 6, and Ubisoft seems to have succeeded in building powerful individuals to make gameplay as rich as it can be.
Antón Castillo
Antón Castillo, also known as The Dictator, is the main antagonist of Far Cry 6, and is played by Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito.
The Castillo family, whose surname means Castle, takes pride in fearmongering and has ruled Yara for over 50 years. Antón was a successor to his father – the former ‘El Presidente’ of the Caribbean island.
Antón’s reign was built on the back of his father’s execution at the hands of rebels. Ever since his father’s death, Antón believes that the island was stolen from his family.
Antón promised the citizens of Yara that the island would undergo a healthy rebuild, however, The Dictator has run the island into hardship, where all who disobey his order end up in forced labor.
Diego Castillo
Diego is Antón’s son, being groomed by his father to one day take his place, and is played by Anthony Gonzalez.
The 13-year-old is being forcibly taught about the weapons of war, and will be the franchise’s youngest antagonist.
After the gameplay reveal trailer, fans theorized that Diego was actually the younger version of Far Cry 3’s Vaas Montenegro, making Far Cry 6 a prequel.
Vaas was the third game’s psychopathic antagonist, and sports a similar scar over his eye to Diego.
Diego’s mother is thought to be the character Maria, who will no doubt have a role to play in the game’s story.
Dani Rojas
Dani Rojas is the game’s protagonist, whom you will be in control of. Players will also be able to choose a male or female variant – played by Sean Rey and Nisa Gunduz.
Dani is a 25-year-old guerilla fighter born in Yara, who rebels against Castillo’s reign as part of the Yara resistance. The character is a military dropout who previously wanted to flee the island, but instead got caught up in the rebellion.
Clara Garcia
Clara is one of Far Cry 6’s main characters and leader of the resistance group Libertad.
A brief history states that Clara was once a journalist who abandoned the profession to lead the Libertad group, in an attempt to put a stop to Castillo’s oppressive reign.
Juan Cortez
Juan is the second main character of Far Cry 6, known as a Libertad member and former KGB spymaster.
He is an advantageous ally of the Libertads and considered to be a “master of resistance”.
Juan is also known for helping Dani fill out their arsenal during gameplay, and has a pet crocodile named Guapo.
Amigos
The Fangs for Hire system has been renamed ‘Amigos’ for Far Cry 6, carrying on the popular companion mechanic that began with Guns for Hire.
The Amigos on offer this time round will be Champagne the white panther, Guapo the crocodile, and Chorizo the sausage dog – whose Libertad Skin is included as a pre-order bonus.
Far Cry 6 will also offer various supporting characters representing Castillo’s Army and the resistance group Libertad.
Far Cry 6 will be released on October 7, 2021.
