Meta players are usually ones that are versatile and good in any scenario. Having a well-balanced team of meta players and your personal favorites can lead to some of the most fun you’ve ever had in FUT.
We are going to take a look at the best players for each position. An important thing to note is that this eleven will look at the base cards of all players. You should always look to upgrade your players, and if your FUT coins allow you, purchase their best versions.
Best Formation in FIFA 23 FUT
The most “meta” formation right now is the classic 4-3-3. This year’s game is much more about the build-up and pressing rather than pace and physicality, so having more midfielders definitely helps.
Especially if you’re not so experienced in FUT, definitely consider this formation. But to consistently qualify for Weekend League, you’re going to have to experiment with formations a bit.

The game has changed and build-up is key to winning games now. For that, you will need a goalkeeper that is good at both stopping shots and starting build-up play from the back. Just like in real life, Alisson is one of the best at that in the game.

Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
Walker is a great choice for your right-back needs because of his very well-balanced stats. Even though the pace is not as important this year, one position that still benefits from it is the fullbacks. With his 91 pace and great defensive stats, Kyle Walker can provide both cover at the back and forward build-up play.

Centre Back (CB)
Jules Kounde (FC Barcelona)
The new signing of FC Barcelona has had a stellar campaign last year. His card got upgraded to an 84 and his stats have been calibrated in order to reflect his great play.
With 84 pace and amazing defensive stats, he is one of the best center-backs to start or even stop counter-attacks. Having fast center-backs is very important in this year’s game, especially if you’re playing a 4-3-3.
Eder Militao (Real Madrd)
Very similar to Jules Kounde as a player (in FIFA), the Champions League winner is another amazing player you can use to build up from the back or disrupt enemy attacks. With an insane 86 pace, 85 defending and 82 physical, Militao can be your rock at the back.

Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid)
Ferland Mendy has been a solid choice at the back for a number of years now. Relatively cheap compared to other players in this list, he brings another layer of speed and creation to your left flank.
A jack of all trades that is good in both attack and defense, Mendy truly lives up to his name as a Champions League left back.

Center Mid (CM)
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
KDB has been the best player in the English Premier League for a number of years now. As a result, he has evolved into one of the most complete players you can use in FIFA. With a stellar combination of 93 passing, 87 dribbling, and 88 shooting, he is the main playmaker of our 11.
He also got a “shadow” buff due to the lack of pacey players in this year’s game. He may cost you a lot of coins, but if there’s one player you should invest in at CM, KDB is your man.
Federico Valverde (Real Madrid)
A star in the making, Valverde is one of the most versatile midfielders in the world. And in FIFA he’s no different. Great at both attacking and defending, he fills many voids in the 11 and patches holes created by other positions.
He is not as good a creator as KDB, but with his 89 pace, he can play a “Kante” style role of a tireless runner to carry the ball from the back or re-take and cover.
Kessie (FC Barcelona)
Kessie is a defensive beast. He is one of the most physical players in the entire game. He can create spaces and overcover for your other two midfielders to start attacks. Kessie is just a classic CDM that can win games on his own.
Take advantage of his physicality and surprisingly good technical stats and you’ve got a monster on your hands. He’s also on the cheaper side of this 11.

Right Winger (RW)
Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona)
Ousmane Dembele, as a card in FIFA 23 is one of the best wingers you can get. Although not as high overall as the other players, he offers something that is loved by almost all FUT players. 5 Star Skills, 5 Star weak foot, and a 93 pace.
A classic FUT hero that reminds of older Messi cards or legends like Ronaldinho. He is amazing at both starting and finishing attacks and is a safe bet if you’re trying to invest in a winger.

Left Winger (LW)
Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain)
The original 5 star skiller of FIFA Ultimate Team, Neymar is back with another amazing card this year. Even though he does not hit the OVR he once had, his card is still amazing.
Just like Dembele, Neymar is absolutely LETHAL if your opponents don’t properly defend against him. With even more dribbling and finishing ability than his RW counterpart, although on the expensive side, you can’t go wrong with Neymar.
Striker (ST)
Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
The most player that is in the best shape in the world right now, Haland is one of the best meta players and strikers you can use in FIFA 23. Strong, tall, fast – a beast. Reminiscent of old FUT GOATS like Emenike or Anelka, Haaland is extremely fun to use.
A lethal finisher, great in the air, and able to keep up even defensively if needed, he is one of the most expensive players in the game, but well worth the price.
Try this team out or at least use some of these meta players and you’ll definitely see better results in FIFA 23 FUT. Make sure to check your record often to see how you’re doing and adjust your team if needed.
