These accomplished hotshots may not be as fast as they once were. And yet, they still possess other football skills that make up for it.
How We Choose the Best Old Players in FIFA 23
To be included in this article, every player featured must have an Overall Rating of at least 80. This may not seem like much at first. Still, you need to consider the fact that these players are all 35 years old or older.
Unfortunately, some of these players will retire the next season. This could be your last chance to play with them, so don’t miss out!
Best FIFA 23 Attackers Above 35 Years
Lionel Messi
We’ll begin our list with, arguably, one of the greatest football players in history, Lionel Messi. With a rating of 91, Messi is one of the game’s highest-rated FIFA 23 players, not only the highest-rated old player in FIFA 23. Fourteen of his FIFA skills have a rating over 90, making him an incredible addition to any club.
Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best football players in the FIFA series’ history. For more than 10 years, he has maintained one of the highest ratings in this game series.
This year, in FIFA 23, is no different, considering he has a rating of 90. His overall rating is slightly lower than Messi’s, but he’s still got decent speed and acceleration for someone his age.
Edin Dzeko
Edin Dzeko is not a well-known player to many, but in FIFA 23, he is one of the best players available in the category of players aged 35 and above, with a rating of 84.
Dzeko has a clinical finishing and heading ability but lacks speed. This talented striker previously competed in Bundesliga and Premier League before joining Roma (and Inter) in Serie A.
Best FIFA 23 Midfielders Above 35 Years
Luka Modric
Luka Modric is a legendary Croatian player and one of the best playmakers in FIFA 23, which has a rating of 88. At 33, Modric can still do all the tricks and has incredible technique, allowing him to make plays other players can’t. Modric won many trophies, including the Champions League with Real Madrid as well as Ballon D’Or in 2018.
David Silva
Although David Silva can no longer run up and down the wings like he used to, his wide variety of skills is what makes him one of the best midfield players aged 35+ in FIFA 23, with a rating of 83. He earned the nickname “El Mago” because of his impressive ball control and precise passing.
Even though he won many trophies during his career ( including the World Cup with Spain) it’s remarkable that he never won the most prestigious trophy—the Champions League.
Dimitri Payet
Frenchman Dimitri Payet, a midfield player for Marseille and one of the most underrated players in his position, has excellent shooting and passing skills in FIFA 23 and an overall rating is 82.
Although he’s not extremely fast, Payet can cover multiple positions on the pitch and is versatile enough to play as a forward or winger.
Best FIFA 23 Defenders Above 35 Years
Thiago Silva
This Brazilian defender and a current Chelsea player is recognized for his outstanding defensive skills and a rating of 86 in FIFA 23. Thiago Silva is especially good at making interceptions and winning aerial battles, and football experts consider him a complete defender. Thiago Silva has won multiple trophies during his career, including the Champions League with Chelsea.
Leonardo Bonucci
Leonardo Bonucci is undoubtedly one of the greatest defending players in football history. Besides his defensive skills, Bonucci also has the ability to start an attack from the back, using incredibly accurate passes.
His current game rating is 84, and it’s worth mentioning that his short and long passing is above 80. Despite numerous trophies and individual rewards, Bonucci has never won anything with Italy, his national team.
Sergio Ramos
Sergio Ramos, a Real Madrid legend and a defender for Paris Saint-Germain, is notorious for his aggression and ability to retrieve the ball. Ramos also has an eye for goal, especially during set pieces.
Aside from solid defensive skills, Ramos is one of the rare defensive players that have decent technical and passing abilities too, and all of this got him a FIFA 23 rating of 84.
He is one of the rare footballers who has won every major title, including the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and World Cup.
Best FIFA 23 Goalkeepers Above 35 Years
Manuel Neuer
Manuel Neuer is an old-school goalkeeper who is often referred to as a sweeper-keeper due to his tendency to leave the goal area in order to make defensive plays.
Neuer has a 90 rating in FIFA 23, making him the best-rated goalkeeper, along with Courtois. He has won numerous trophies during his career, including the World Cup and Champions League.
Keylor Navas
Keylor Navas is probably the best goalkeeper ever to come from Latin America, and he stands out from other keepers for his reflexes, agility, and shot-stopping skills. His FIFA 23 rating of 88 places him in the top seven goalkeepers in the game.
Besides the numerous trophies he has won during his career, his biggest accomplishment is undoubtedly winning the Champions League for three straight years!
Hugo Lloris
Hugo Lloris is a legendary French goalkeeper with acrobatic goalkeeping skills and reflexes. He also has a strong passing ability, which allows him to start attacks from the back line of defense. His rating of 87 in FIFA 23 puts him on the list of best goalkeepers in the game.
His biggest accomplishment in his career was winning the FIFA World Cup with his national team in 2018.
