Find Mechanical Parts

Randomly finding mechanical parts is not the best way, but it is a way to do it. They can be randomly found in things like broken workbenches, toolboxes, mo power crates and shelves and working stiff crates. However, finding them will only give you a handful each time and it’s not an overly reliable source. If you want a more reliable source to build up quite many mechanical parts, you need a wrench.

Using a Wrench to Get Mechanical Parts

Getting mechanical parts in 7 Days to Die using a wrench tool is simple. There are many different objects you can use the tool on to receive mechanical parts. Go up to the object and destroy it using the tool. Some of these objects are listed as follows:

  • Fridges
  • Trucks
  • Cars (mostly intact)
  • Mechanical gym equipment (treadmills, bikes, etc)
  • Vending machines
  • Gas pumps
  • Ovens
  • Air conditioning
  • Safes
  • Office chairs

These are the most common you can come across, if it’s something you think is mechanical, just take a shot with it and destroy it to see if it’s another item that may give you mechanical parts.

How to Obtain a Wrench

Wrenches can be crafted, which we will talk about more later, and they can be found. Wrenches can be found in the loot bags that drop from some zombies, working stiff crates and the traders can also sell them.

Showing the crafting recipe of wrench in 7 Days to Die

7 Days to die has different tools in the same class. A wrench is the base level tool for that class. The better version of a wrench is the ratchet and the better version of that is the impact driver. All three tools will work, the higher tiers are better but a wrench is still a viable option, especially early on. They all need skills, or schematics to build and all require mechanical parts.

A wrench is crafted using 12 forged iron, 4 mechanical parts and 2 duct tape. Having the skill Salvage Operations, under the perception tree, is required for crafting the item. You can also read the wrench schematic which will allow you to craft the wrench without Salvage Operations. Higher-level wrenches can be crafted using the Miner69’er skill. Put a few levels into that and you will be crafting some very trusty tools to support you during your 7 Days to Die playthrough and will help to get more resources, like mechanical parts,
