How to Get Satisfaction Points in Sims 4

Updated:

Sims 4 is one of the most popular life simulation games and has often been called genre-defining in the life simulation category. The appeal of creating a second life that is entirely in the player’s control seems to be universal, and Sims 4 has some of the most complex character behaviors. While the earliest version of the game (The Sims 2000) simply involved feeding and putting your Sims to bed on time, keeping your Sims happy is no longer that easy.

Sims now require multiple relationships, a fruitful career, and life satisfaction points. If you’re wondering how to get Satisfaction points in Sims 4, you’re not the first one! There aren’t as many ways to get satisfaction points in the game as the number of career choices, and it is an often overlooked aspect of allowing your Sim to feel completely fulfilled and ‘satisfied’ with the life you’ve given them.

But not all players choose to use Sims 4 to build relationships and careers. Many players use their creative prowess in building interior design homes and don’t have time to organically get Satisfaction Points in the game.

There are a few easy cheat codes for players like these (or those looking for a shortcut) to add in the desired amount of Satisfaction Points. Stay tuned to the end of the article to find out how to use cheat codes to get satisfaction points in Sims 4.

What are Satisfaction Points in Sims 4?

Satisfaction points in Sims 4 can be thought of as reward points in the game. Having enough satisfaction points does not help level up skills, but it gives your Sim a better mood. Having your Sim be happier can help them be more efficient at multiple tasks and helps build relationships faster.

When a Sim has high Satisfaction Points, they have more creativity. This can help your creative Sim while writing a novel or painting a masterpiece, in turn fetching more money and greater quality of lifestyle. Your Sim is also entitled to better promotions when they have more Satisfaction Points.

In turn, collecting Satisfaction Points can allow you to spend them on a Personality trait for your Sim or a Potion. Altering your Sims personality is a coveted game feature since it contributes to making the game much more immersive. With more personality traits, your Sim will act more human and unique in their relationships, interactions, personal goals, and emotions.

Getting Satisfaction Points for your Sim isn’t as easy as making them practice a skill in order to level up. There are a couple of different ways to get Satisfaction points in Sims 4, let’s get into them.

Method 1: Aspirations

Aspirations are the most convenient way to earn Satisfaction Points in the Sims 4. You can think of Aspirations as a ‘Bucket List’ for your Sim, and these are the personal goals they want to accomplish in their lifetime, which is limited time for a player considering how short a Sim’s lifespan can be.

Aspirations will vary among Sims depending on their personality and traits. You can find the Aspirations on the star button on the right side of the menu panel, and clicking on this will open up an Aspiration window.

Each Aspiration has multiple levels that can be completed. These can be tasks for your Sim to carry out or events.

Here are a few example Aspirations that are easy to complete and don’t require extensive effort or hours:

  • Fabulously Wealthy: This is an easy Aspiration to complete and also gives your Sim plenty of money along the way.
  • Chief of Mischief: This Aspiration involved turning the neighborhood against you as you clog everyone’s toilets and kick their trashcans.
  • Bestselling Author: This Aspiration can be completed by building on writing skills. It is ideal for teenage Sims.

Each Aspiration will earn your Sim anywhere between 3000-5000 satisfaction points, provided you complete all the levels within the Aspiration.

There’s no scarcity of Aspirations for your Sim, and you can keep completing multiple Aspirations to gain Satisfaction points for your Sim. In addition to Satisfaction points, completing levels in an Aspiration unlock special rewards.

Method 2: Whims

Whims are randomized desires and wishes that your Sim receives. They are not as structured or systematic as Aspirations and can pop up at multiple points in the game.

Whims were a more fleshed-out game feature in Sims 3, but it seems that they are not a big part of Sims 4. That’s why you’ll often notice a repetition of Whims while you play the game, even if you’ve previously completed them.

Whims show up as a thought bubble for your Sim as a desire to complete a certain task. You’ll have to pin the whim if you are not going to complete it immediately since they will disappear after a bit. Whims are a great way to earn Satisfaction points and do not involve leveling up as Aspirations do.

If you notice that your Sim hasn’t been getting any Whims, you may not have it toggled on. Go to the Main Menu, and then Game Options. Here you should see an option for Whims. Make sure it is switched on.

Consider downloading a Whim overhaul mod if you wish to have more varied Whims catered to your Sim’s personality. This can be incredibly useful for getting more family-based whims, so all your Sims get higher Satisfaction Points together.

Note: If your Sim has a baby with the NPC Father Winter, the child will get 50% more Satisfaction Points while completing Whims.

Method 3: Holidays

If regular people can get sick of their lives and long to go on holiday, your Sim sure can as well. Sims will often want to go on holiday to break the monotony of their regular lives, and this is a great way to stock up on Satisfaction Points.

Holidays in Sims 4 can be curated, and you can choose the location and Sims you decide to travel with. If you’re looking for a Satisfaction point max-out, try planning your holiday in such a way that you can complete a few Aspirations along the way as well.

How to get Satisfaction Points Using a Cheat Code

It’s very simple to get Satisfaction points through a cheat code in Sims 4.

  1. Open the Cheat box in the game. You can do this by selecting Ctrl + SHIFT + C.
  2. Type “testingcheatson” to make sure that your cheats are enabled.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that cheats are on, type in “sims.give_satisfaction_points #” with the number of satisfaction points you desire. For example, if you want 5000 points, you will enter in “sims.give_satisfaction_points 5000”
  4. Your Sim now has the number of Satisfaction points you typed in.

How to Spend Satisfaction Points

There are two ways to spend Satisfaction points: buying Reward Traits and Potions.

Reward Traits

Satisfaction Reward Traits can be found in the Rewards Store. You can buy an unlimited number of Reward Traits as long as you have the Satisfaction Points to pay for them. Having more Traits allows your Sim to be more varied and unlocks more aspects of the game.

Here are some of the best Reward Traits:

  • Always Welcome: This Reward Trait costs 500 Satisfaction Points. You can enter any Sim’s home and take a shower or cook, without them getting angry at your Sim!
  • Fertile: In this Reward Trait for 3000 Satisfaction Points, your female Sim has a much higher chance of giving birth to twins and conceiving often. It is particularly useful if players opt for the 100 Baby Challenge in Sims 4.
  • Steel Bladder: You can buy this Reward Trait for 2000 Satisfaction Points and enjoy playing a Sim that rarely ever has to go to the bathroom! This frees up plenty of time for the Sim to do other things.

Potions

You can also buy Potions in the Reward Store with Satisfaction Points. Potions have a temporary effect on Sims, unlike permanent Reward Traits. Making your Sim ingest a potion is great for maximizing a holiday or an event.

All Potions affect your Sims mood. This is particularly helpful since you don’t need to wait for your Sims mood to change and can instantly use a Potion to do so.

Here are some of the best Potions you can buy:

  • Confident Potion: This potion costs 200 SP and puts your Sim in a highly confident mood, boosting their friendly interactions with other Sims.
  • Flirty Potion: For 200 SP, your Sim will be in a very flirty mood for a short period of time. This is great for building romantic relationships with other Sims.
  • Potion of Youth: This potion costs 1500 SP and will reset the clock on your Sim’s current life stage, thereby extending their life span. It does not take the Sim back to a previous life span, only resets the current one.
