If you’re somewhat new to playing Stardew Valley, the game may seem very complex at first. The game, which has been constantly evolving with new updates since 2016, continues to be a great life/farm simulation. And we’re going to answer one of the most asked questions about this great game: How to Milk Cows in Stardew Valley?
It’s basically about growing your own products, trading them and discovering the story. While these are usually simple to do, it gets a little tricky when it comes to taking care of animals. There are small details that you must have and you need to pay attention to.
Stardew Valley: How to Get Milk
One of the things Stardew Valley does best is make gameplay sweet and fun. It’s the same with milking cows. Of course, you have to meet some conditions, but basically the cows have to be happy. Before you can start milking your cows, you need to complete the following four steps:
- Barn for your cows to live in.
- Silo for the Hay storage.
- Cow or cows. (Duh!)
- Milk Bucket.
Don’t be intimidated by these four steps. You can get them all quickly if you have enough resources. Let’s take a quick look at one by one.
How to Build a Barn in Stardew Valley
One of the most important buildings in Stardew Valley is the Barn. You will need to spend some resources to build the Stable where your cows will live. First make sure you have 6000 Gold, 350 Wood and 150 Stones. Then go to Carpenter’s Shop and order the Stable. That’s it!
Now your cows have a place to live. Before moving on to step two, remember that you will make the Barn a part of your daily routine. Because in order for your cows to be happy, you must come to the Barn every day to feed them. Speaking of feeding, there’s one more building we need.
How to Build a Silo in Stardew Valley
It’s great that your cows have a place to live! What about their diet? You can’t give them your own food in Stardew Valley. Instead, you should collect hay that they can eat. Here you will need a Silo to store these straws.
Just make sure you have enough resources first, just like we did at the Barn. 100 Gold, 100 Stone, 10 Clay and 5 Copper will be required to build a new Silo. If you have these, go straight to Carpenter’s Shop and place your Silo order. That’s it! You can now store the hay you collect from the grass . How to Get Milk in Stardew Valley
Now that we have the two buildings we need set up, we can start milking the cow. Of course, don’t forget to buy the Milk Bucket you will need for milking. You can buy it for 1000 Gold at Marnie’s Ranch.
Now that everything is ready, you can buy your first cows. We recommend buying two cows worth 1500 Gold at the beginning. This is to keep the operation small until you learn how the system works and understand how much feed they will need. When you first buy the cows, they will come in the form of calves. After five days, they will have turned into adult cows.
Cows will continue to be happy if you freshen their feed every day. Cows’ happiness directly affects the amount of milk they will give. That’s why it’s important to keep making them happy. Grab the Milk Bucket and interact with the cow by going to milk it. If the cow is happy, you will be able to milk without a problem.
Milk matters a lot in Stardew Valley. You can either sell it for a high price or use it to make cheese. Or you can use it directly for cooking. If you want to build your entire farm life on milk production, that’s also possible.
