Want to know how to unlock all classes in Warhammer Vermintide 2? Of course you do, your class determines your playstyle, power, and so much more, so picking the right one is important. That’s why we’re going to go through all four classes for all five characters. We’re going to break down how to unlock each class (it’s super easy), and tell you a little bit about what that class entails.

Unlocking the classes is just a matter of playing the game on the related characters – so don’t worry about having to pull off any crazy feats – all it takes is time, and effort.

  • Mercenary – Default.

Mercenary is the level one class for Markus Kruber. It’s available right from the beginning of the game and is melee-focused. Mercenary’s passive ability gives you +10% attack speed for six seconds, while its skill gives your allies 25 temporary health staggers nearby enemies. He also gets a bit of help with cleave and crit chance.

  • Huntsman – Reach level 7.

Huntsman is Markus’ second career and is unlocked by reaching level seven. Unlike Mercenary, this is all about ranged attacks. The career’s passive ability regenerates one ammunition on ranged headshots, while the career skill gives you six seconds of invisibility, giving extra damage and range on your ranged weapon. Perk-wise, you’ve also got plenty of ranged help with double range, ammunition capacity, and critical hit chance.

  • Foot Knight – Reach level 12.

To unlock the Foot Knight class in Warhammer Vermintide 2, you need to reach level 12 with Markus Kruber. Foot Knight is all about survivability. Its passive reduces damage taken by 15%, while the career skill charges Markus forward – knocking any enemies hit back. The Foot Knight perks are simple but effective. One gives you an extra stamina shield, while the other reduces damage taken by 10%.

  • Grail Knight – Purchase DLC.

The last class for Markus Kruber is the Grail Knight. You can’t unlock the Grail Knight in-game. Instead, it must be purchased from the shop on your system of choice. Its passive is called The Lady’s Duty. With it, when you spawn into a mission, you’ll be given two randomly selected side-quests from a pool for you to complete throughout the mission. Completing these side-quests will grant you additional buffs that will last until the end of the mission.

The classes’ career skill is comparatively simple, you equip a powerful sword that does a whole lot of damage. Perk-wise, you 25% more damage to the first enemy hit, 10% more movement speed, and your shield now blocks Warpfire Thrower damage.

Bardin Goreksson

  • Ranger Veteran – Default.

The Ranger Veteran is the default class for Bardin, so you don’t have to bother unlocking it. This class is all about range – giving you skills and perks centered around Bardin’s ammo economy and ranged attack. Its career skill is a 10-second smoke bomb that conceals you and increases your ranged damage for its duration.

  • Ironbreaker – Reach level 7.

Ironbreaker unlocks when you get Bardin to level 7. It’s a total tank class that lets you absorb one hit for free every 20 seconds, reduces the effectiveness of enemy attacks on you, and taunt any nearby man-sized enemies. It’s the perfect tank for anyone looking to absorb damage on the front lines.

  • Slayer – Reach level 12.

To unlock the Slayer class in Warhammer Vemintide 2, you have to get Bardin to level 12. Slayer is all about outputting massive damage. Both its passive and career skill increases your damage output, and its perks supplement that with attack speed and preventing your attacks from being interrupted.

  • Outcast Engineer – Purchase DLC.

Outcast Engineer is the DLC class for Bardin – so you’ve got to open your wallet to get it. This class is built around a mechanic called Pressure, as well as its unique ranged minigun career skill. It’s yet another ranged class for Bardin, but an incredibly fun one on account of the giant, fantasy gatling gun it gives you access to.

Kerillian

  • Waystalker – Default.

You unlock Kerillian’s Waystalker class automatically in Warhammer Vermintide 2. It’s another true ranged class that focuses on bows instead of guns. The class has some passive health regen, which is nice, and an arrow volley career skill. It also gives you access to a ranged zoom, making it fantastic for sniping elites and specials.

  • Handmaiden – Reach level 7.

You unlock Handmaiden when you get to level seven with Kerillian. Handmaiden is a movement-focused class that gives you longer dodges, more stamina, and a pretty weak career skill that just lets you pass through enemies. It also has a perk that lets you revive 50% faster, and gives the person you revived 20 health.

  • Shade – Reach level 12.

Shade is Kerillian’s level 12 career. It’s a damage-based class that fits into the traditional assassin archetype. You get double damage when attacking enemies from behind, and your career skill turns you invisible for five seconds, letting you pass through enemies. In this state, your melee attacks are always critical – making this one of the best boss-killing careers in the game.

  • Sister of the Thorn – Purchase DLC.

Sister of the Thorn is a DLC career, meaning you have to buy it to unlock it. Its passive skill gives you one extra use of your career skill every minute, and that career skill lets you summon a wall of thorns that locks enemies for six seconds. It also gets a bit of poison damage and temporary health generation from its perks.

Victor Saltzpyre

  • Witch Hunter Captain – Default.

With Hunter Captain is the default Saltzpyre career, so you don’t need to do anything to unlock it. It’s a tricky class that rewards skilled gameplay and has incredible slaying potential. It gives you more damage on enemies you’ve already hit, removes light attack block cost from frontal attacks, and makes your critical headshots instantly kill man-sized enemies. Its career skill buffs allies’ crit chance and has a knockback effect.

  • Bounty Hunter – Reach level 7.

You unlock Bounty Hunter at level seven and it’s possibly the best special-killing class in the entire game. It’s a super simple class, giving you guaranteed ranged crit shots every 10 seconds, and a career skill that fires an incredibly powerful bullet capable of one-shotting everything except bosses – to which it does insane damage. Its perks complement this with more ammo and faster reloads.

  • Zealot – Reach level 12.

You unlock Zealot for Saltzpyre at level 12. It’s an unusual class that gets stronger as you lose health. It comes with a charge that increases attack speed for five seconds, uninterrupted charged attacks, and the ability to resist death when you take lethal damage. It promotes a high-risk, high-reward gameplay style.

  • Warrior Priest of Sigmar – Purchase DLC.

Saltzpyre’s Warrior Priest of Sigmar class is only unlockable by purchasing it as DLC. It’s built around a mechanic called Fury that charges to give you a temporary damage increase passively. Beyond that, it has a boatload of defense with a career skill that makes you, or an ally, immune to damage, and perks that increase Saltzpyre’s damage, and resistance to curse.

Sienna Fuegonasus

  • Battle Wizard – Default.

You don’t have to unlock Battle Wizard for Sienna. This class is all about managing its ranged weapon’s Overcharge, with the ability to automatically ventilate after not firing for six seconds. While Overcharged, you gain faster spell cast speeds, and its career skill is a dash that leaves damaging fire on the ground behind it.

  • Pyromancer – Reach level 7.

When you reach level seven with Sienna, you unlock Pyromancer, which is one of the simplest classes in the game – having only one perk. This class increases your crit chance up to 30% in line with your Overcharge level, and its skill sends out seeking projectiles. Its single perk gives you 10% more ranged damage.

  • Unchained – Reach level 12.

Unchained is a high-risk Overcharge class. It transfers 50% of the damage that Sienna takes to Overcharge, removes Overcharge slowdown, and increases your melee power on high Overcharge up to 60%. Its skill makes Sienna explode, damaging surrounding enemies and clearing her Overcharge.

  • Unknown – Purchase DLC (unreleased).

The last class for Sienna is presumably a DLC class. However, as of writing, it hasn’t actually been revealed yet, making Sienna the only character in Warhammer Vermintide 2 with fewer than four classes to unlock.
