Interview With DK Canyon: “RNG is a very good team, but we know we can still beat them.”

Updated:

After the match between PSG Talon and DAMWON KIA, DK’s jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu sat down with the press for an interview.

Written below is the transcript of the Canyon interview. In bold font are the questions from the media, while in the standard font are Canyon’s answers.

Recently, there has been a lot of debate around Rumble’s priority in the jungle, with some analysts saying it’s better in other roles, while others are arguing its bad win rate is coming from a lack of prowess from players that are still mastering the champion. What is your opinion on Rumble’s power in this meta?

So, personally, I think there are 3 champions that are good in this meta right now in the jungle. That’s Udyr, Rumble, and Morgana. I think if any player plays any of the 3 which he is most confident in, that will be good, and Rumble is definitely one of the three first-tier junglers in the game right now.

While MSI will not be played on the new 11.10 patch, have you had time to look through the new jungle changes yet, and what are your thoughts on it?

So I can’t say anything differently, because I haven’t had a chance to play too much of it, but I did try it a few times, and my personal opinion is there are many more champions that can show up in the jungle now since smite can take off the scuttle’s shield. And so far I think there hasn’t been too many difference in the jungle, but maybe that is because I haven’t played too much of it yet.

How strong is RNG compared to the teams you usually play in the LCK?

We only played a single game against them, so I can’t be too sure of myself, but I do think they are a very good team, but not to the point where we can’t win against them. So I think our priority right now is to keep practising, and fixing our problems so we can beat them the next time we play against them.

Does it worry you that DAMWON KIA lost this first round against RNG?

I think there are ups and downs. The up is that we lost a match, and we can now reflect on it. The downside is that we have a loss on our scorecard right now.

Last week, Showmaker said that RNG deserved to be the favourite, but DAMWON KIA will take home the MSI trophy. Do you feel this way?

I’ll do my best.

Why did DAMWON decide to go full AD composition in Game 1 against RNG?

Looking at RNG’s comp, they didn’t have a hard tank or anything, so we thought it would be okay for us to go an all AD comp.

Of course, Canyon, you and the team have been practising hard, but have you gotten the chance to experience interesting sights or food in Iceland so far?

So we did have a day off while we were in Iceland, so we took that day to explore around. We got to see some lakes, and the city, and we were able to have some great lambs. It was a great experience for me, so I think the trip is valuable so far.

Is there a favorite meal you like to eat before game day?

So I think it’s my routine to drink coffee or coffee-flavored milk before a match.

How would you rate yourself among the junglers of all-time?

I think that depends on how well I play from now on, and how consistent I can be for the future.
