Melty Blood: Type Lumina Gets New Trailer and Release Date

Published:

A new trailer has been revealed for 2D anime fighter Melty Blood: Type Lumina. The game will launch in North America, Europe, and Japan, on September 30, 2021. Melty Blood: Type Lumina will also be a simultaneous release for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam.

Type Lumina is the 8th entry in the franchise, based on the visual novel Tsukihime, by Japanese developers Type-Moon. Type Lumina is being developed by French Bread, another Japanese development studio known for 2D anime fighting games, including Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, the Under Night In-Birth series, and previous entries in the Melty Blood franchise.

Six returning Melty Blood fighters have been confirmed for the game so far, including Shiki Tohno, Arcueid Brunestud, Akiha Tohno, Ciel, Hisui and Kohaku. The full roster of the game is confirmed to include “over 10” characters, although the exact number has not yet been revealed. Call me sadistic, but here’s hoping Nrvnqsr Chaos returns.

A digital deluxe edition has been confirmed for the game, and will cost $69.99. The standard edition of the game will also be released digitally, and is set to cost $49.99. The digital deluxe edition will include the following:

A digital copy of the “MELTY BLOOD Guide Book,” packed with visuals and the history of the “MELTY BLOOD” series, and a music player that will allow you to enjoy in one place a unique selection of musical tracks from old “MELTY BLOOD” series and the “MELTY BLOOD SOUND COLLECTION,” containing the soundtrack from the game “MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA.”

Type Lumina should be a great addition to the current lineup of 2D fighting games, especially with the inclusion of rollback netcode. Whether it will surpass the current hype of Guilty Gear -Strive-, though, is yet to be seen.
