Do we finally have a contender to Super Smash Brothers? MultiVersus is taking the gaming world by storm with an addictive gameplay loop coupled with a sweet feeling of nostalgia. Even though the game is easy to pick up, you may not know where to start. We’ve got you. Here’s our first MultiVersus tier list.
Which Are the Best Heroes in MultiVersus
As you probably know by now, MultiVersus is a WB “multiverse” game, where characters from different Warner Brothers properties battle it out in a “platform” fighting game style. Similar to Super Smash Brothers, in MultiVersus you don’t automatically win by damaging the opponent. You have to knock them out of the map.
This allows for incredibly unique and creative ways to design characters, and trust us, WB did not hold back on creativity. Each character feels fresh and faithful to their identity, from style to kits.
But, as with all online fighting games, they become very competitive environments. Naturally, people want to play the best characters to either win or advance in the rank ladder. Things are a little bit different in MultiVersus, though. Especially from how characters are designed.
MultiVersus 1v1 Tier List
The main game mode in MultiVersus is 2v2, but 1v1 is also very popular. Like in most other fighting games, many players consider 1v1 the true test of skill, while others simply prefer it because they don’t have to play in a team with someone at random.
While characters are built with a focus on 2v2, that does not mean they can’t do well in 1v1. Battles in 1v1 are fast and completely depend on players’ ability to execute. At times, they can be much more competitive than 2v2.

A: Shaggy, Superman, Wonderwoman, Tazz, Harley Quinn, Lebron
B: Garnett, Finn

Tazz
If you’ve played a few matches of MultiVersus already, you know what we’re talking about. All the characters in the S tier of our MultiVersus tier list are the ones you see the most.
While all are close in power level, Tazz clearly stands above all characters in the 1v1 game mode. He is unmatched in the level of oppression and combo chaining, fast, and easy to play. For 1v1, that is. In 2v2 he can be focused easily and does not have as much utility protection.
Harley and Jake
Harley and Jake are both similar in power level, even if they fulfill different roles. Harley can overwhelm the battlefield with bombs and gadgets and has a really nasty quick double combo into elimination if you don’t pay attention.
Jake is VERY TANKY and has a lot of knockbacks and CC abilities. He is even more annoying than Tazz when it comes to chain combos but he lacks the damage sometimes.
Superman, Wonderwoman, and Batman
WB knew they wanted the DC Trinity to take a back seat on this one. Superman, Wonderwoman, and Batman all feel very good to play and they all fulfill the bruiser role perfectly. However, they are quite predictable and slow compared to the S tier.
Bugs Bunny
Bugs Bunny is one of the most unique characters in the entire game. Playing almost like a “mage” character, he is the most faithful recreation in the game at the current moment. He is extremely fast and can keep enemies at bay with ease.
If you manage to get good at him, he can definitely jump to the S tier in 1v1. In 2v2, the story is completely different. The amount of utility, dodges, and cc he has at his disposal is simply unmatched.
Shaggy
Shaggy is one of the easiest characters to play in the game and definitely one you should pick it up to learn MultiVersus. He has a basic kit that you’ve seen before, with a few crazy moves and great damage build-up. The fun in playing Shaggy comes from his “Goku” style charge and hilarious interactions.
Arya Stark
Arya Stark is another character that can easily jump into the S tier if you learn her properly. The downside is, that she is very hard to learn. Really fast with crazy kill potential and great set-up, Arya is by far the greatest combo hero in the game.
Her combos are also hard to react to. For 2v2, pair her with a hero like Reindog or Velma and she becomes truly unstoppable. Which is why she is still in the top place of our MultiVersus tier list.
Finn
The B Tier is where we start to look at niche picks that can be downright broken in the right hands, but they require a lot of knowledge + setup. For example, Finn is an easy-to-play assassin, that relies on generating and balancing a GOLD income while fighting.
Yeah, sounds awesome but is not that efficient in-game. He is, however, really good in 2v2 where he can generate gold faster and take more advantage of the utility the items provide.
Garnett
Garnett, is once again quite a gimmicky character that relies on hitting slow abilities that are easy to dodge. Not that efficient, but they are really strong if you’re good at predicting. She is also a little better in 2v2 where your ally can either knock or lock your enemies into her skills.
Tom and Jerry
Tom and Jerry, similar to Buggs, is a ranged-caster character. Their kit has a lot of potential and can be really annoying to play against, but one of the projectiles is Jerry, and to use some combos you’re going to need to take him back.
So you have to plan a few steps ahead if you’re looking to be good at Tom and Jerry. In 2v2, they belong in the S tier. Just like Buggs, characters that have a lot of projectiles and utility are really good at controlling enemies.
And Everyone Else
All of the characters in the C tier of the 1v1 MultiVersus tier list are absolutely not worth playing in the 1v1 game mode. They are all supportive characters that have very low damage and almost no kill potential. They are incredibly good in 2v2, but in 1v1, play anything else if you want results, even if you love them.
While Reindog and Velma are the best supports by far and it really comes down to preference, Steven is a little bit on the weaker side. Even though Iron Giant got quite a lot of bug fixes in the latest patch notes, he is still, well, too big to do well in MultiVersus at the moment. We suggest holding off until he is significantly buffed.
