How to Cure Infection in Subnautica?

To cure the Kharaa Bacterium infection, you will have to use something known as Enzyme 42. However, getting Enzyme 42 is another headache in itself. For that, you will have to follow the storyline and keep your ears open. I will outline the process for the same in a stepwise format below.

How to get Enzyme 42?

To get Enzyme 42, you will first have to reach the stage of the story when you are at the Primary Containment Facility. This is basically the area where the Sea Emperor has been trapped by the Precursor race. I won’t go too much into detail about the story as that is something that you should explore on your own. However, I will give you a proper step-by-step guide on how to get your vaccine and cure the Infection in Subnautica. Almost like it’s 2020.

First, go to the Moonpool and talk to the Sea Emperor. This is when you will be enlisted with helping out in hatching the 5 Sea Emperor Leviathan babies. However, in doing so, you will need a special enzyme serum. This means that you have to search for the ingredients and craft the hatching enzyme serum.

Getting Ion Blocks

So, the Primary Containment Facility is a pretty amazing and self-sufficient area. You will need a resource known as an Ion Block which will help you open a series of portals to faraway lands. Luckily, there is a room known as the Antechamber inside the facility that will allow you to get Ion Blocks at repeated intervals.

While doing all of this make sure to not get dehydrated and drink plenty of water.

Finding the various portals

This isn’t too much of a headache. Just roam the facility and you will find the portal rooms. Next, you have to go to the center of the room and drop the ion cubes in a box to power up said portals. These portals will help you get to various locations. This is where you have to find ingredients for an enzyme that will help with the cure for the Infection in Subnautica.

Note: You will have to use 4 different portals which take you to 4 different locations. In each, you will have to find the flora mentioned below to get the particular resource.

Making the Hatching Enzyme to cure the Infection in Subnautica

Make sure to have at least one item of each of the above-mentioned ingredients on yourself. Make your way to the sub and power it up. Now, go over to the Fabricator and interact with it.

You will now find an option to craft and make a Hatching Enzyme. Once you are done, put the enzyme in your inventory and head on over to the Primary Containment Facility.

Hatching the eggs

Now, dive into the Moonpool and go to the very base where the eggs are. Interact with the control panel and insert the enzyme. You will now hatch the eggs and come across 5 baby Sea Emperor Leviathans. A cutscene will begin within which you will be able to interact with an enzyme blob. Upon doing so you can see that it will start to cure your infection in Subnautica.

You will also get an achievement reward for all your struggles at the end of this! It will also essentially bring an end to the game as you have saved the alien planet from the infection.
