Nintendo has already given us more details on the upcoming Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, including the Bowser’s Fury adventure, Amiibo functions, and online play.
Bowser’s Fury features Lake Lapcat, a large, free-roam style map with Mario teaming up with Bowser Jr. to stop Bowser, who has transformed into “Mega Fury Bowser.” (Known as God Slayer Bowser in the Japanese version of the game).

Bowser has become gargantuan and lost all control! Join forces with Bowser Jr. to stop his big bad dad in the Bowser’s Fury adventure, included in the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury game.

The map starts off with a sunny atmosphere. After a certain amount of time Mega Fury Bowser becomes active in the background, changing the atmosphere into a stormy, foreboding one.
Mega Fury Bowser will interfere with Mario as he progresses through the level through fire attacks, while also making changes to the terrain in the process, such as raining down spikes on the stage which Mario can then jump on to climb up higher platforms.

Bowser will go dormant after a certain amount of time, which will return the level into a bright, cheerful state once again.
In Bowser’s Fury, Mario will be followed by Bowser Jr. Armed with his paintbrush and Koopa Clown Car, Bowser Jr. will assist Mario against enemies as well as unveiling secrets in the map. Bowser Jr. can be controlled by a second player.

In this free-roaming level, Mario’s main goal will be collecting collectibles similar to Shine Sprites in Super Mario Sunshine; these ones are called “Cat Shines.” Collecting enough Cat Shines will unlock the Giga Bell, which is otherwise locked away in a black substance similar to what is afflicting Bowser.

The Giga Bell will transform Mario into a giant of Cat Mario, necessary to defeat Mega Fury Bowser. No details on how the fight will ensue has been shown yet.

Plessie will also be featured in Bowser’s Fury, who will also be able to navigate on the ground.

The Switch port also includes a Snapshot Mode. Freeze the game and adjust the camera to take a photo, then add filters or stamps. Stamps can be found scattered throughout courses.

As for the Amiibos, all currently available Amiibo figures are compatible. Here are the known Amiibo effects:
| Amiibo | Effects |
| Cat Mario | Grants the White Cat Suit powerup. This is similar to the White Tanooki powerup that makes Mario invincible, but it also gives the wearer the same benefits as the Cat Suit, such as climbing up walls. |
| Cat Peach | Grants a random Tier 2 Powerup (Tanooki, Cat, Boomerang, etc) |
| Any Bowser Amiibo | Immediately wakes up Bowser in the Mega Fury form. (Only available in Bowser’s Fury) |
| Bowser Jr. | A POW shockwave is triggered that eliminates enemies. (Only available in Bowser’s Fury) |
| Compatible Amiibos (Characters that appear in the Super Mario series besides listed above) | Spawns a Super Star, which temporarily increases running speed and invincibility. |
| All other Amiibos | Spawns a 1UP Mushroom in Super Mario 3D World, or Spawns a Mushroom in Bowser’s Fury. |
