The Forest is a survival horror game where you play a man trying to find his son after a plane crash. Strange creatures and cannibalistic people stay on the island and they are not very friendly. To stay alive in The Forest you will need the best weapons, and here they are along with how to get them.
Weak Spear
The weak spear is one of the first weapons you will use in The Forest. It is not the best but for a starter weapon, it is not too bad. You can use the spear as a close-range weapon or throw it for some ranged damage. You can also craft a spear bag that will allow you to hold five weak spears.
It is crafted using two sticks in the crafting menu. Hunting is one of the weak spear’s best uses because of its long melee range. Attacking animals closer to the ground or catching fish is very easy with this weapon.
Upgraded Spear
The upgraded spear is a good all-around weapon in The Forest as it has decent speed and damage. Hunting is very easy using this spear as you do not need to stop to hit something on the ground. You can also throw the spear or add cloth to set it on fire, making it an incendiary spear.
One weak spear, two cloths, and three bones are the recipe used to craft it.
Crafted club
A crafted club is similar to the club you can get from killing cannibals and is only mildly different with slightly lower damage and higher speed. Like the modern axe, the crafted club also has a high block stat, making it an all-around weapon.
Crafting this requires one stick and one skull. Adding cloth turns it into a flaming weapon, like the upgraded spear.
Katana
The Katana is one of the easiest weapons to find in The Forest and you can get it without needing to fight anything, unlike most of the caves. This weapon is good for crowd control as it hits more than one target. It is fast and has good damage. It can also be upgraded to do more damage or attack faster.
Modern Axe
The modern axe is amazing for cutting down trees and enemies. It has good damage and decent speed but it’s the best feature is the blocking. It has the best base block stat in the entire game and if used properly can completely change your combat experience.
Taking on enemies one on one is amazing with the modern axe as it has an amazing knock-down ability. To make it the best one-versus-one weapon, you can upgrade its speed or damage.
In the main cannibal village is the entrance to cave two which contains the hidden stash room. Located here is the modern axe. The cannibals will take you to this cave the first time you lose all of your health.
Modern Bow
The modern bow is the best-ranged weapon in The Forest when used as instructed. Depending on the kind of arrow you use, this weapon is deadly with its damage. The modern bow has the ability to do extra damage due to headshots.
The weapon’s speed however gives it a bit of a disadvantage when at closer distances. So you’ll be better off sticking to melee weapons at closer distances.
Across the island bridge connecting the main island to the mountains is cave seven. Located there is the modern bow.
Honorable Mentions
Although not the best weapons in The Forest, these do have their uses:
- Dynamite, good damage, and area of effect damage. But you must time it right
- Molotov, decent damage, constant fire damage for a period of time after the initial attack
- Crafted bow, similar to modern bow just not quite as strong
- Flintlock pistol can be useful but finding all the pieces is more work than its worth
