In The Forest, raccoons are one of the rarest animals to find despite spawning in numerous locations. Raccoons have been a part of The Forest since the game’s seventh update. While raccoons are rare there are multiple areas around the game’s map where players can locate them.
Where to Find Raccoon Spawn Locations
In The Forest raccoons are most active at night, meaning players will need to pay close attention when looking for them. Raccoons appear in several locations across the northern region of the map in The Forest. In this region, they will spawn more commonly in the lower mountainous areas. There are a few spawn points in the northern forest as well.
Players can also find raccoons in the grassland region on the southern half of the map. Most of these raccoon locations will be near Geese Lake. There are a few locations further east near the river.
How to Hunt Raccoons in The Forest
Since players in The Forest will need to travel at night when searching locations for raccoons, they will need to be fully prepared. If players have a base in the northern region, venturing into the snow will be one of the easier ways to find the animals. Since the snow reflects light and makes seeing the animals easier.
While moonlight can be helpful players will need to equip a portable light source such as a flashlight. Like most smaller passive animals in the game raccoons can be killed with any weapon. However, while other small animals only require one hit, raccoons need to be hit twice to down them.
What Players Recieve After Hunting Raccoons
If players are able to successfully locate and kill a raccoon in The Forest, they will receive two meat and the animal’s head. If players skin the raccoon they will receive raccoon skin as well.
Much like other animal heads the raccoon head can be sued as a decoration. Raccoon skin currently can only be used to craft the warmsuit. This armor piece requires only one raccoon skin and grants players cold damage protection.
