Who Exactly is V Rising Developer Stunlock Studios?

Updated:

Awaken as a Vampire, hunt for blood, and regain your strength. V Rising is a survival game that allows you to experience the fantasy of being a vampire. And it’s time to find out who the people behind the game in Stunlock Studios really are.

Stunlock Studios is a small game development company founded in 2010 based in Sweden. They have a knack for free-to-play MOBA games. But not just your regular MOBA games like League of Legends or Dota. Their games may look similar but boy are they different and let’s find out how.

Within these walls worlds are born, heroes rise, and epic arenas are built. We’re crafting groundbreaking, community-driven games with the players as our focus. Inspired by the simplicity of classic games, we add innovative ideas and creative mechanics with one purpose in mind – to give you an instantly exciting experience.

We have 35 people on our team, each gifted with their own unique skill set and bringing something new to the table.

Stunlock Studios

Dead Island: Epidemic and Bloodline Champions

One of their earlier games was Dead Island: Epidemic which is a MOBA spinoff of the well-known zombie shooter series Dead Island. The game was a mix of both PvP and PvE with multiple teams wandering around the wasteland and scavenging materials while fighting other teams at the same time.

The game is not available anymore since it was shut back in 2015. But what is available is Bloodline Champions. Another early project of Stunlock Studios that is basically a 5v5 MOBA with RPG elements in which you took on different bloodlines with unique abilities.

Battlerite and Battlerite Royale

Neither of those games were extremely popular so let’s fast forward a few years. In 2017 Stunlock Studios released Battlerite. Battlerite is a MOBA (Surprise) that throws away things like lanes and minions and focuses on team fights. Imagine a mix between League of Legends and Overwatch. That’s Battlerite.

Such format was very new and quickly got popular. Because why would you spend 30 minutes in League to try and fight other players when you can do that in Battlerite in under 10 minutes?

For those looking for a PvP-intensive MOBA, Battlerite delivers some of the best small-scale battles you can find. Rounds are quick, but gameplay is addictive and fluid enough that you can continually play without realizing it. Though it may not have much depth, Battlerite has lots of action packed into an easy to learn package.

GameSpace

When the Battle Royale trend hit the world with Fortnite, Stunlock Studios quickly made their own, Battlerite inspired Battle Royale named Battlerite Royale. Select your champion, drop in on Talon Island, loot and fight with a top-down view.

V Rising

And now in 2022, Stunlock Studios released V Rising. And the game isn’t a free-to-play MOBA. This time around it’s an open-world survival in a vampire world. It’s something like ARK but more gothic and top-down.

You can build your castle, gather resources and decorate your castle, fight other players, recruit minions and constantly expand your ability kit and feed with the blood of your enemies.

The game currently has 33,000 players on average and lots of positive reviews on Steam. And since V Rising is technically in Early Access we can hope for much more content and updates from the developers, Stunlock Studios.
