League of Legends Rell Guide – Runes & Summoner Spells

Rell’s kit works perfectly with Aftershock. In most cases, you will run this keystone because of the resistances boost.

Font of life can be proc’d repeatedly thanks to the multiple crowd controls Rell has. Bone Plating & Second Wind are both viable: choose the first if they have a lot of burst, otherwise go for the latter.

Unflinching also synergizes well with Rell’s whole kit, while Hextech Flashtraption can be used to jump over walls & make better ganks.

Also, be aware of which stats you want to get. Due to the low base attack speed Rell has, it might be good to get a little boost in that department. Otherwise, stack up resistances & get some Ability Haste to spam spells more often.

As for summoners, you run the usual combinations most support go for. Flash & Ignite are good when they have a lot of healing or you did that more burst.

Otherwise, pick up Exhaust instead ( with Flash, of course). It works better if they have champions with sustained damage or very high DPS.

League of Legends Rell – Build & Skill Order

Rell is an extremely tanky champion. Everything built around her is Armor (just like her in-game equipment), Magic Resistance & Health.

The Mythic Item choices are multiple. You’d run in most cases Locket of the Iron Solari. It costs only 2500g, grants resistances to allies plus an AoE shield. Remember that support don’t get much gold in the game, so low, cost-efficient item are the best.

Alternatively, you can go for Turbo Chemtank in order to chase after people or Shurelya’s Battlesong, which costs a little less but not as good in terms of stats.

After one of the three, start stacking Armor. Dead Man’s Plate is strong on Rell due to the MS gained, while Knight’s Vow is better if your job is to peel your allies. Zeke’s Convergence can be built if you’re looking to fight with teammates that deal damage with many auto-attacks.

As for Magic Resistance, Force of Nature & Abyssal Mask are probably the best options. The latter is exceptional if you’re able to pull multiple enemies with the ultimate.

Gargoyle Stoneplate is a good last-item option since it grants insane tankiness with the shield (and the bonus resistances)!

As of right now, Rell’s kit is struggling slightly. Her damage is really low, which is unfavourable in the meta where everyone deals absurd amount of damage.

For this reason, you’d want to focus on the utility of your spells. Max E, then W and Q last. Q’s damage is too low, so you’d only use it in order to break the shields.

E can be used as a very strong AoE stun, but it really depends on both the ally & your positioning. Nonetheless, it’s recommended to max it first, also thanks to the small bonus of resistances it grants.

Lastly, W will be your main engage tool so be really careful to when using it since its cooldown is not that low in the early game. Messing up the engage can be really bad, since after you dismount your MS will be a lot lower.

During the Early Game…

As Rell, you’re looking to either engage or disrupt the enemy’s charge. In the early game, focus more on poking slightly using Q’s & E. Don’t force too many fights: Rell’s damage is really low (looking forward to some compensation buffs).

Look to roam & help other lanes as well, with Hexflash. You have good tools to gap close so just wait for the right timing & make the set-up for a kill.

Then Later into the Game…

Rell really shines in teamfights when she’s able to use R effectively. Her ultimate has insane value since it can group up multiple targets, allowing your allies to dish all their damage.

She works best with AoE ultimates, so champions like Orianna, Samira or Katarina (just to name a few) have very good harmony. Teamwork is key here: just like the team is reliant on you to land your spells, they will have to understand your movements in order to win the fights!

Takeaways?

After being released in such a hectic moment for Riot Games (Release of Wild Rift & the recent Announcement of Ruined King), Rell didn’t receive much attention. In addition, her in-game performances haven’t quite convinced everyone, so we might be looking at some buffs in the near future.

Nevertheless, she’s a fun champion with really strong tools. She’s the perfect support to initiate & set-up insane Wombo Combos, so pick her up & try to make montage-worthy plays!
