The Sims 4: How to Complete the Plant-A-Sim Scenario

In The Sims 4, PlantSims are a rare sight to see, however, in the Plant-A-Sim scenario, they’re a regular occurrence. Players typically have to go through a pretty lengthy process to turn a sim into a PlantSim. Luckily, now players can skip that and instead attempt the Plant-A-Sim Scenario in The Sims 4.

Plant-A-Sim Scenario Overview

The Plant-A-Sim scenario has seven goals players will need to complete with their sims:

  • Eat the Forbidden Fruit of the PlantSim
  • Have the PlantSim talk to five plants
  • Harvest from one perfect quality plant
  • Satisfy water needs (x5)
  • Absorb solar energy from plants (x5)
  • Photosynthesize by absorbing direct sunlight (x25)
  • Care for plants as a PlantSim (x99)

The number of goals and the number of times each goal must be completed makes the Plant-A-Sim scenario one of the more challenging Sims 4 scenarios. However, a lot of the goals can be completed at the same time.

When players first begin the scenario they can find five Forbidden Fruits in their sim’s inventory. Once they eat the fruit sims will turn into a PlantSim. This transformation will last for ten days.

If a player fails to complete the challenge within 10 days and reverts back to a regular sim the scenario goals will disappear. They will return as soon as players eat another fruit. This does however mean that players will need to manage their time properly.

Creating the Perfect Plant-A-Sim Scenario Conditions

While playing in large mansions may be the preferred playstyle for some, players who choose smaller lots will have an advantage in the scenario. If players use a tiny home residential lot, introduced in the Tiny Living pack, they will receive several perks.

Tier 1 micro-homes (32 tiles) have the lot perk “Let It Grow.” This perk causes plants to grow twice as fast. Since players will have to grow and interact with a lot of plants in the Plant-A-Sim scenario, sims will benefit from this perk a lot.

Players can also add additional lot traits such as the Great Soil, Homey, and Sunny Aspect traits. All of these will help with gardening and making sure PlantSim has everything they need during the challenge.

The Sims 4 select a season to play in screen with spring, summer, fall, and winter icons.

Since sunlight and gardening are two important parts of this scenario, players with the Seasons expansion pack will want to make sure they begin the scenario in Spring or Summer. Starting the game in Fall or Winter will make players experience more cloudy days, which will make the challenge extremely difficult. If players do not have the Seasons expansion pack, they do not have to worry about this issue.

How to Take Care of a PlantSim

Unlike regular sims, PlantSims do not eat regular food or use the bathroom. Instead, PlantSims will need to be watered regularly and gain nutrients from the sun. PlantSims can be watered in a variety of ways:

  • Playing in sprinklers (walking through sprinklers also works)
  • Playing or showering in the rain
  • Swimming
  • Taking showers and baths

The easiest way to feed a PlantSim is by letting them spend as much time outside as possible. They will need to be in direct sunlight for this to work. Players with the Snowy Escape expansion pack can have their sims go on hikes around the map. Taking naps outside in lawn chairs or pool floats will also meet this need for less active sims.

Another way players can feed their PlantSim is by absorbing solar energy from plants. This will only work on plants that can be grown by sims. Players can select a plant in their garden and have their PlantSim absorb the plant’s solar energy. This will decrease the plant’s quality, and reset its growth stage.

How to Complete the Photosenthesize Scenario Goal

One of the more challenging goals in the Plant-A-Sim scenario is photosynthesizing. Sims will need to have their water and sunlight meters completely full for this process to begin. If the proper conditions are met this effect automatically happens when PlantSims are in direct sunlight.

Players can go for a swim on a sunny day and quickly begin to earn points towards photosynthesis by absorbing the direct sunlight goal. Swimming in water will keep the PlantSims hydration meter full, while the sun will keep the hunger meter full.

Even though attempting the Plant-A-Sim challenge in the Spring or Summer will result in many sunny days, there will still be times when clouds and storms last for weeks. Traveling to different worlds can help, as each world will experience different weather patterns. However, the easiest way to get rid of clouds is by using the Weather Machine.

In build mode, players can purchase Dr. June’s Weather Control Device, and place it on their home lot or any public lots. They can then have their sim select the option to make the weather hot.

This will instantly cause any unfavorable weather to disappear. At lower skill levels this will only work for the day the option is selected. Sims can be unsuccessful when using this machine with low handiness skill levels. If a sim’s skill level is too low and they fail the check, they will be zapped by the machine, if sims experience being zapped twice in a row they will die.

How to Care for Plants as a PlantSim

Players will need to complete 99 interactions with plants as well as harvest from a perfect quality plant to complete the scenario. These interactions will only count towards the goal if the sim is still a PlantSim.

The 99 care interactions can be completed by watering, fertilizing, and weeding plants. Harvesting or selling produce grown also counts towards this goal. If players have the Cottage Living expansion pack, interactions with crops (Pumpkins, Egg Plants, Lettuce, etc) will not count towards certain interaction goals.

The Sims 4 build mode plant seeds and other garden tools.

Players will be given a few seed packs to begin the challenge immediately in their inventory. They can purchase more seeds on a computer or by going into build mode and buying seeds directly from there.

Players will need to water their plants daily to keep them healthy. Bugs may also attempt to move into players’ gardens, and they will need to quickly spray the area or else their plants will die. Fertilizing plants every other day will help players increase their plants’ qualities. Players can use harvested crops and fish to fertilize their gardens.

Another big challenge players may face, in the Plant-A-Sim scenario, is getting at least one plant to perfect quality. The limited amount of attempts players have to turn themselves into PlantSims, will make waiting for each evolution stage difficult.

One way players can achieve this is by spacing out how often they eat the Forbidden Fruit. If players use their time as a regular sim to continuously care for and evolve plants, and then turn into a PlantSim before performing the final evolution on the plant, it will count towards the goal.

Completing the Plant-A-Sim Scenario

Once players complete every task successfully they will receive a pop-up notification. It will show their completion time for the Plant-A-Sim scenario. Unlike the other scenarios available, the Plant-A-Sim scenario does not reward sims with satisfaction points.

Instead, all sims on the lot will receive the Super Green Thumb trait. This trait helps sims grow plants with high vitality rates.
