How to Get Wheels in 7 Days to Die

Published:

In a game like 7 Days to Die, mobility is king when it comes to time management. Nothing feels worse than running out of time in the day, or space in your bags while out on a loot run. Getting a vehicle allows you to move around the map much more freely. As such, this guide will show you how to get wheels for vehicles in 7 Days to Die.

Finding the Wheel

Finding wheels can be frustrating, you could search for hours and find nothing, or you could search for minutes and find one immediately. The important thing to know is where to look.

Sure you could high RNG roll a trash can and find one, but you’re more likely to find a wheel located in either a garage in any of the multiple housing districts or located at a gas station. This applies to both random generation as well as using the default Navezgane map.

Finding Wheels in Gas Stations

I prefer to hit up the gas stations first, as gas in general is very important to have a surplus of. Loot everything, this will become paramount to your survival and progression.

Your bags will be full 100% of the time while out looting, but don’t worry, once you have a vehicle with your freshly farmed wheels, you will be out with double the inventory space and no movement penalty, free to loot to your heart’s desire!

You can also find an auto shop or two around the map for an extra chance to get additional vehicle parts.

Finding Wheels in Garages

Next, I like to scour every inch of Diersvill. There are a TON of garages in Diersvill as well as a plethora of shops down the streets leading out of the city to the South and the West. Garages also hold other goodies that you can take advantage of.

Finding early tools such as a wrench, a hammer, or even just parts to craft power tools is advantageous and speeds up your progress. And garages are an excellent source. If you’re playing on random generation, look for a city with as large a residential section as you can find.

Buying Wheels

If you can’t get wheels after searching in gas stations and garages, it’s time to hit up the list of 7 Days to Die local traders. Traders have the main inventory, a secret inventory, and the area around them is filled with all kinds of loot-able destroyed workbenches.

The traders all have different items in stock and when approaching a trader and accessing their shops, you will be prompted with a timer showing when they will acquire new inventory and when the shops will reset. Rinse and repeat until you find wheels.

Crafting the Wheel

Lastly, you have the option of crafting the wheels yourself, this requires materials that you can easily find while searching for the wheel itself, and you only require one perk point investment in the skill “Grease Monkey”.

You will need to create or find a workbench in order to craft the wheel, but you can find many of those in working condition all around the world.

These are the materials you need but you can reduce them by further upgrading the “Grease Moneky” skill:

  • 24 Scrap Polymers
  • 1 Bottle of Acid
  • 3 Forged Iron
  • 2 Oil
  • 15 Coal

That just about does it for how to get wheels in 7 Days to Die. If you choose to purchase wheels, you will need to amass Duke’s Casino Tokens.
