Modern Warfare 2 offers a firing range that lets you test every gun thoroughly. Going into the firing range is simple, and we’re going to be showing you how to access it in Modern Warfare 2.

The firing range in previous Call of Duty games didn’t see much use. The new Gunsmith system changed the way we customize our weapons, and it brought more value to features like the firing range.

How to Access Firing Range in Modern Warfare 2

The firing range may not seem like a big thing, but it still stands as one of the best tools for weapon testing in Modern Warfare 2. You can test recoil patterns, weapon handling, and specific weapon attachment tunes in very fine detail, which will all help you build the weapon of your dreams.

Accessing the firing range in Modern Warfare 2 is quite simple

  1. Open the menu and find the ‘Weapons’ tab
  2. Select the Multiplayer Loadout section
  3. Hover over a custom loadout and press the Edit button
  4. Interact with one of your weapon slots and select a weapon from the wheel

Accessing the firing range won’t be too hard. The button isn’t really that hidden, but some players have had difficulties finding it.

How to Properly Use the Firing Range

Other than testing default weapons, not many people know just how useful the firing range is. Weapon customization in Modern Warfare 2 is as extensive as it gets. Especially if you add the new Gunsmith system that gave us hundreds of attachments to apply to any given primary and secondary weapon.

Given the abundance of pros and cons that each attachment holds, and how heavily it affects weapon performance in this game, you’re going to need something like the firing range. That is if you want to accurately test each attachment build and how it’s going to impact your custom weapon.

What we mean by all of this is that the firing range is closely tied to the Gunsmith and weapon customization in general. This is supported by the fact that you can access the firing range directly from the Gunsmith customization screen. Use this to your advantage when customizing weapons.

Testing Weapon Tunes & Attachments

Visual iron sight recoil has increased substantially in comparison to previous COD titles, and this warrants the usage of optics. The firing range is a great way to test out each optic sight individually. The same applies to barrels and muzzle attachments, as those have the ability to either decrease or increase your recoil significantly.

But, what the firing range really helps with is testing weapon attachment tuning. Tuning is a new feature that is exclusive to Modern Warfare 2, and it basically lets you tweak the pros and cons of certain attachments. Weapon tuning is still not thoroughly researched, and it’s up to you to use the firing range in order to test each tuning slider.

By using the firing range you will be able to put together an undefeatable loadout. If you want to level up your Modern Warfare 2 skills even more learn how to reload cancel.
