Best Places to Fish in Stardew Valley

Updated:

When it’s man versus fish in Stardew Valley, you want the edge in the fight. Half of the fight against your scaly adversaries is knowing where they are, and when they’ll bite. In this guide, we’ll show you the best places to fish in Stardew Valley.

When it comes to fishing in Stardew Valley, many factors come into play regarding where you should go. Weather, Season, and time of day all play an important role in deciding where to go when to go, and what bait to use.

Let’s begin by separating locations by the best spots per season.

Best Spring Fishing Places in Stardew Valley

Starting with Spring, there are two very good locations to go for overall income as well as lucky 200 gold catfish catches during rainy days.

Pelican Town River

First up we have the River location inside Pelican Town. Now, this location is at the bottom of the map, on the far left inside of the city. There is a small strip of deep water, indicative of the dark blue portion of the water.

This is the best fishing place during the Spring time, netting you the most income during spring.

Fishing here during sunny days can reward you with Bream, Smallmouth Bass, and Sunfish. On the other hand, during rainy days, you can find Shad, Smallmouth Bass, Bream, and Catfish. You will want to be aiming to catch Catfish if the option is available as they average around 200 gold per catch.

Cindersap Forest River

Similar to the above location, you can also find Catfish during rainy days in the Cindersap Forest River area.

This location in the first is less profitable than the city, but still, an option if you want a change of scenery. You can catch everything at this watering hole that was available in the Pelican Town location, with the addition of the Chub.

That does it for Spring, onward to the next season.

Best Summer Fishing Places in Stardew Valley

With a new season comes new adventures and new fish types. With that, we have the addition of two more locations for summer time.

The Beach: God Rock

The Beach is a very good place to fish during the summer. More specifically, the god rock.

The rock is located just off the left side of the pier West of Willy's Fishing Shop.

You may have seen this rock in passing, but you may not have known that this rock is actually the goated fishing spot of Stardew Valley during Summertime.

This spot boasts a minimum catch value of 50 gold with a Red Snapper during any weather. Top that off with a massive 250 gold at night time per Super Cucumber, this fishing spot is where it’s at.

Mountain Lake

Next up, we have the Mountain Lake fishing spot located directly South of the mines.

This spot has the most fish that can be caught during any weather for a decent income per fish. You can also get lucky and catch a Sturgeon from 6 AM to 7 PM landing you a solid 200 gold.

Best Autumn Fishing Places in Stardew Valley

Now that you’ve had a profitable Summer time, let’s move on to Autumn. Our first location should seem very familiar as it makes a second appearance on this list.

The Beach: God Rock

If you didn’t smell what it was cooking during the summer, you have another chance during the Autumn.

Coming in strong again is the God Rock. The fish options are much the same with an added few fish to the pool of possibilities. You can expect a small decrease in average income as the Halibut is no longer available and is instead replaced by the less profitable Albacore.

Nevertheless, this is still a very profitable spot.

Pelican Town River

Similar to the God Rock, the Pelican Town River is making its second debut during the Autumn.

During autumn, this spot boasts a chance to catch Tiger Trout at 150g each during any weather conditions, and the rainy conditions allow Catfish, Shad, and Walleye. With this in mind, you will almost always be making enough money to justify the time invested here.

Best Winter Fishing Places in Stardew Valley

Finally, we arrive at the chilly season, Winter. With the availability of Lingcod, Tiger Trout, Pike, and Walleye, these two locations rule Winter and far surpass the others in income.

Pelican Town River

Pelican Town is the gift that keeps on giving. It has a healthy supply of high-value fish without being muddled by too many low-value fish, making this the most consistent fishing spot for the Winter.

Cindersap Forest River

Making its comeback for the first time since Spring, Cindersap Forest has a chance to catch all of the fish previously mentioned but with the addition of the Chub.

Chub is valued at 50 gold, so it’s not really the fish you want to be aiming for. That being said, the Cindersap Forest River spot is seconded only by the Pelican Town River spot in total income value average, making it a solid choice.

That’s the top best two fishing places per season in Stardew Valley. Now that you’re well on your way to becoming a fishing guru, head on over to our other guides for Stardew and get ahead of all of the other aspects of the game:
