Diablo Classes Explained

Whether you’re new to the franchise or have been here since the beginning, Diablo Immortal is unique in the rich universe of the gothic world created by Blizzard. We’ve got you covered if you’re looking to pick up a new class or don’t know where to start your journey. Here are all the Diablo Immortal classes explained.

The Barbarian

Before jumping in, it is essential to note that the primary attacks of all classes have an enhanced version that does more damage.

Regardless of what critics think of Diablo Immortal, the launch has been a success. In terms of player numbers, at least. The game has brought many newcomers to the franchise, and many of them are unfamiliar with the Diablo class style. For them, the perfect choice is the Barbarian.

Primary Attacks

Lacerate: Launch a series of attacks that deal X (number varies with item level) to Y (number varies with item level) damage with each hit. Every third hit heals you for 15% of the damage done.

Frenzy: Launch a frenzied attack for X damage. Each hit increases Frenzy’s attack speed by 8% for 3 sec, stacking up to 5 times.

Secondary Damage Skills:

Hammer of the Ancients: Smash a hammer in front of your character, dealing damage.

Chained Spear: Launches chains that drag enemies and deal damage.

Whirlwind: Toggle a spin that deals massive amounts of AOE damage to enemies around your character.

Defense/Utility Skills:

  • Ancient Spear
  • Wrath of the Berserker
  • Furious Charge
  • Demoralize
  • Sprint
  • Ground Stomp
  • Throw
  • Cleave

The Barbarian is the best at the main gameplay mechanic Diablo offers – fighting insurmountable enemy numbers in small combat rooms. With their remarkable healing and AOE, they can take on any threat. Making them the perfect fit for newcomers or players who love topping the damage charts.

Check out our class tier list to see who we picked as the best out of all classes.

Demon Hunter

The Demon Hunter class has been through a lot in Diablo’s history. From being either strong or weak, it seems like the devs of Diablo Immortal found a nice balance for the class this time around. With a high-skill cap but gratifying gameplay, the Demon Hunter can rival even the Berserker in terms of DPS. But, it does take a long time to play the class properly.

Primary Attacks

Crossbow Shot: Shoot an arrow for X to Y damage while moving at reduced speed.

Explosive Arrow: Shoot an arrow that explodes on impact for X damage to the target and Y damage to all nearby enemies.

Secondary Damage Skills:

Rain of Vengeance: Arrows damage enemies in an area selected by the player.

Knockback Shot: Knocks enemies away and deals damage to them.

Multishot: A whirlwind of arrows that deals 360% damage to all enemies in an area.

Defense/Utility Skills:

  • Daring Swing
  • Knife Trap
  • Sentry
  • Smoke Screen
  • Spinning Chakrams
  • Escape
  • Impale
  • Strafe

The Demon Hunter is an excellent class for those who want to challenge themselves while playing Diablo Immortal. It will be a great addition to any (future) raid teams and, historically, is one of the best PvP classes.

The Demon Hunter is also really good at farming battle pass missions.

Wizard

The Wizard is another class that requires hitting your abilities, but it has the highest potential DPS out of all the classes if played correctly. Although much more difficult to play than the Berserker, the Wizard requires permanent kiting of enemies and very few missed spells.

Primary Attacks

Electrocute: Arc lightning from your fingertips, dealing X to Y damage to the first enemy struck and then leaping to 3 additional enemies for 30% as much damage.

Magic Missle: Launch a missile of magic energy, dealing X to Y damage.

Secondary Damage Skills:

Meteo: Large AOE blast from a meteor.

Teleport: Blink forward.

Lightning Nova: Deals lightning damage around the character.

Defense/Utility Skills:

  • Scorch
  • Arcane Wind
  • Ray of Frost
  • Black Hole
  • Disintegrate
  • Ice Crystal

The Wizard is mighty in the right hands but also highly vulnerable. Especially in the late game, it requires a party with a Berserker or a Crusader to function correctly. This is why it’s not the best class for newer players.

Crusader

The Crusader is in a weird spot right now. Although their kit is impressive, on their own, they struggle a lot with clearing rooms and bosses. They require a party to fully take advantage of their abilities, even more so than the other classes.

Primary Attacks

Punish: Strike an enemy for X to Y damage and gain Hardened Senses, increasing your Block Chance by 30% for 2 seconds.

Frenzy: Ignite the air with holy flames from your weapon, dealing X to Y damage to an enemy and 25% as much to all other enemies in front of you

Secondary Damage Skills:

Conjuration of Light: Turns allies invulnerable for 3 seconds.

Judgment: Slow and damage enemies.

Spinning Shield: Drags enemies towards you and damages them.

Defense/Utility Skills:

  • Blessed Shield
  • Condemn
  • Consecration
  • Falling Sword
  • Shield Charge
  • Sweep Attack

Monk

The Monk is similar to the Crusaders in the sense that they need teammates to use their kits fully. The difference is, the Monk has so much mobility that it makes clearing enemies a little bit easier.

Primary Attacks

Deadly Reach: Project lines of piercing force that deal X to Y damage to the target and A to B damage to enemies behind the target.

Fists of Thunder: Teleport to a nearby enemy and unleash a rapid succession of punches that each deal X to Y damage. You can teleport again after every third hit. Each enemy player can be a teleport target only once every 3 seconds.

Secondary Damage Skills:

Wave of Light: AOE attack in front of your character.

Cyclone Strike: AOE attack that pulls enemies.

Flying Kick: Jump between enemies seven times, dealing damage.

Defense/Utility Skills:

  • Blessed Shield
  • Condemn
  • Consecration
  • Falling Sword
  • Shield Charge
  • Sweep Attack

Necromancer

Necromancers are the “jack of all trades” of Diablo Immortal. They are good at everything but the best at nothing; they have a great defense and excellent offense but can never combine the two and can only play with one build at a time which holds them back. Despite all that, necromancers can hold their own and are the best class against bosses.

Primary Attacks

Bone Spear: Shoot a piercing Bone Spear forward to inflict X damage, and pierce up to 2 additional enemies. Damage reduced 50% for each additional enemy pierced.

Soulfire: Throw a ball of soulfire that explodes when it strikes an enemy, inflicting X damage to the target and 25% as much to all other nearby enemies.

Secondary Damage Skills:

Command Golen: Summons a tank golem

Corpse Explosion: Explode enemy corpses.

Skeleton Mage: Summons a Skeletal Mage that attacks enemies.

Defense/Utility Skills:

  • Bone Armor
  • Bone Spikes
  • Bone Spirits
  • Command Skeletons
  • Corpse Lance
  • Grim Scythe
  • Skeletal Spikes

Our Diablo Immortal classes explained is a guide that focuses on viability, but, the most important factor in choosing your class should always be the one you have fun with most.
