Ready or Not is something unique that we haven’t seen in a long time. One major part of this game is the general aesthetic, and this made people wonder if there’s a way to change your uniform. There is a way to change your uniform in Ready or Not, and today’s guide will expand upon that feature and everything it encompasses.
Given how Ready or Not is still in very early access, features like these may have limited options available. However, it already seems like Ready or Not is one of the most popular games on Steam, meaning that they’ll eventually add more depth to existing features. You can’t rush perfection.
How to Change Your Uniform in Ready or Not
Changing your uniform is a pretty simple task, and you won’t really have to do anything complex.
- You’ll first have to launch your game and enter a single-player or public/friends-only lobby
- As soon as you’ve spawned into the headquarters, make your way to the locker room that is located next to the briefing room.
- Once in there, go to the mirror and stand in front of it.
- A prompt will appear telling you to ‘Press F to change Appearance‘.
- Press F and click the ‘Uniform‘ tab in order to open the uniforms menu.
- Now you’ll see a list of uniforms that you can change into.
- Pick one and click ‘Apply‘ in order to save your choice.
Now you know how to change your uniform in Ready or Not. There aren’t many uniforms currently available, but as the game fixes more important issues, we’re sure that they’ll eventually implement more types of uniforms for us to use.
Uniform Selection
The only uniforms that you can currently use in Ready or Not are:
- LSPD SWAT
- LSPD SWAT OD
- FEDERAL HRT
LSPD SWAT is the regular uniform that everyone spawns into the game with, but if you want an alternative desert camouflage outfit, then the LSPD SWAT OD uniform will serve you well. Also, none of the uniforms give you any distinct advantages or disadvantages, it’s purely up to how you want your character to look.
Supporter Edition Uniform
The FEDERAL HRT uniform that’s greyed out in the ‘Uniform’ tab is a special item that can only be unlocked if you’ve bought the ‘Ready or Not: Supporter Edition‘ on Steam for about 72$.
The Supporter Edition of Ready or Not comes with many benefits such as access to Ready or Not’s first future expansion, the official soundtrack, and its experimental supporter branch that allows you to play test maps before they release.
People who own the Supporter Edition of Ready or Not will be entitled to many other in-game items in the future, but we’re not sure it’s worth it as of now. Of course, if you want to support Void Interactive and have the means to, then go ahead and buy this. No development company deserves it more than them right now.
Which Uniform Should You Use?
As said previously, there are no distinct pros or cons to any of the uniforms available right now. Regardless, there are still countless opportunities for you to roleplay using different uniforms. The regular LSPD SWAT uniform is useful for any missions that take place at night or in a very dark building, this will help you and your team blend in with the dark surroundings.
Now, if you’re going on any daytime raids or missions, then the LSPD SWAT OD uniform would be a perfect choice. The FEDERAL HRT uniform on the other hand finds itself somewhere in between. It looks unique and as great as the rest, but we’re not sure if it fits in anywhere. Its unique nature makes it more of a special symbol of your financial support.
Moral of the story is – if you love the roleplaying aspect of this game, it’s always best to change your uniform into something that fits the scenario you’re entering; make sure to prepare properly.
Changing Characters in Ready or Not
As you’ve most likely seen, there’s also a ‘Character‘ tab above the ‘Uniform‘ tab in the section where you change your appearance. This additional tab was made purely for changing your character’s physical attributes, and it has nothing to do with your uniforms.

There are a lot of options available for you to choose from, giving you the ability to pick what would personally suit you the best. We expect there to be more character options in the future when Void Interactive finds time to work on miscellaneous features.
Modded Uniforms in Ready or Not
Yes, it is possible to mod Ready or Not as you would any other moddable game. Even though the game’s still in early access, the modding scene that was born around it is steadily growing. We’ve also made a guide on how to install mods for Ready or Not if you’re interested.
Believe it or not, modders have made mods that change the textures of existing uniforms. These mods can easily be added to the game without any real repercussions. There are already quite a few uniform mods that exist on Ready or Not’s dedicated Nexusmods page, and we recommend checking it out if you’re curious.

Some of the most popular uniform reskin mods are the US BORTAC Reskin Pack, the German SEK/GSG9 Reskin Pack, and the FBI HRT Reskin for SWAT. The first two packs completely overhaul the uniforms and let you roleplay as operators from different or foreign tactical units.
As for the FBI HRT reskin mod, it contains a uniform that is nearly identical to the Federal HRT one that you get with the Supporter Edition of Ready or Not. It’s not completely identical to the Federal HRT uniform, but it’s similar enough to where you could fool someone.
There’s so much left for you to learn, and knowing how to change your uniform in Ready or Not is only the first step. Adapting to this game’s features might seem hard, but you will eventually fall in love with everything that it has to offer.
