Wurt is one of the best characters in Don’t Starve Together, desired for her Swamp navigation abilities and allyship with fellow Murms. Exclusive to the Steam release of the game, you can get Wurt in Don’t Starve Together using both real money and in-game currency.
Buying Wurt With Real Money
Since Wurt was originally released as a DLC character, the fastest way to get her is through purchasing one of the paid DLC items that include her. These include the Wurt Deluxe Chest and Starter Pack 2019, available for $9.99 and $7.99 respectively.
You can find both DLC packs on Steam by searching their names or by navigating through the main Don’t Starve Together page. As soon as you’ve bought one of the packs, Wurt will be available in the character selection menu, assuming you’ve unlocked the ability to switch characters.
Weaving Wurt With Spool
If you don’t want to spend real money to unlock Wurt, you’ll instead have to weave her out of Spool. While this method is totally possible, it does take a much longer time than buying Wurt. Make sure you’re ready for a grind before taking on this method.
To weave Wurt, you’ll need a total of 2700 Spool, a very large amount for most players. The only way to accumulate Spool is through unraveling Curios. Unfortunately, the amount of Curios you can get is limited, with only 15 available per week.

These 15 Curios are split across 7 daily gifts and 8 randomly dropped items in-game. Make sure you play every day and collect your gifts to speed up the Spool collection process.
Curios are split into different rarity tiers, with each tier granting a different amount of Spools when unraveled. The tiers, and their Spool reward, are as follows:
- Common Curios grant 5 Spool when unraveled
- Classy Curios grant 15 Spool when unraveled
- Spiffy Curios grant 50 Spool when unraveled
- Distinguished Curios grant 150 Spool when unraveled
- Elegant Curios grant 450 Spool when unraveled
While it is a grind to unlock Wurt through weaving, it’s totally possible if you make the most of the unraveling system.
