Whether you like it or not, combat in GTA 5 was loved by many. There are a lot of gunfights that our protagonists are put through during the story, which is why it’s important to know how to roll in GTA 5.
Rolling in GTA
Rolling as a defense mechanic got introduced in GTA IV, but you could only roll sideways. You had to rely on taking cover or quick-peeking a corner if you wanted to get shot less. It isn’t anything revolutionary. But it still does help you avoid things like bullets and vehicles. Not to mention how dynamic it makes the gameplay feel when you can roll into the cover.
If you want to know how to roll, here’s a quick list that will show you how to roll in GTA 5 on each gaming platform:
- PC – Aim and press Space whilst going in the direction you want to roll
- PlayStation – Aim and press Square whilst going in the direction you want to roll
- Xbox – Aim and press X whilst going in the direction you want to roll
You have to be careful when choosing where you’re going to roll. Once you aim down the sight, you can control where you roll by guiding your player via either the analog stick on consoles or WASD keys on PC.
Additionally, rolling doesn’t work diagonally. You’ll have to stick to four directions only – front, back, left, or right.
Furthermore, rolling can sometimes feel clunky due to the fact that you can’t smoothly roll in all directions. This becomes even more apparent when you’re in the heat of battle and you can’t roll into cover immediately.
Can You Roll Faster in GTA Online?
There are no ways to roll faster in GTA 5 or GTA Online. This is something that GTA Online players constantly ask about, and it was unfortunately never a thing. It would simply be too much of a disadvantage if there was a way for people to increase their roll speed.
And whilst we’re at it, increasing your shooting skill will not make you roll faster. This is another feature that players thought could increase roll speed, but it’s just not true.
