Communication is a key aspect of playing Valorant. But what if you only want to communicate with one of your friends without your whole team seeing what you are writing? There’s a feature in Valorant called whisper and here’s how to use it.
How to Whisper to Your Friends in Valorant
Typically, you use voice chat to communicate with your teammates. But sometimes you may be unable to do so. Or you might be playing with a friend and you need to tell them something personal.
There are many times when you’ll need to write important information like enemy positioning, ask for weapons or even make someone aware that you’re AFK for a little bit. For times like this, you’ll have to use Valorant’s direct message feature. Although pretty bare bones, it gets the job done.
If you want to whisper to someone while in a match, follow these steps:
- Press CTRL and Enter.
- Type in your friend’s name whom you’d like to send a message.
- Type your message.
- Press Enter to send your whisper or private message.
After that, you will be typing to your friend every time you type in the message box. If you want to type to your team or to everyone again, you will have to press TAB while in the chat box.
If you’re in the menu and want to write to someone, it works slightly differently. First, to direct message, anyone, directly you must have them in your friends list. After that, select the person you want to send a message to from the right side of your screen and type your desired message.
Communication is key to having success in Valorant. It’s better to communicate by writing, in any form, rather than not communicating at all, especially if you’re planning to climb the ranks and find yourself in higher elo games.
