New players will be given some missions to clear in Warzone 2 DMZ mode once they start. One of those missions requires players to smash through Strongholds full of well-equipped enemies. Strongholds are difficult, but it’s entirely possible to face this Warzone 2 DMZ challenge solo, and here’s how.
How to Get Stronghold Key
Entering Strongholds requires a stronghold keycard that can be looted off generic foes or purchased from a Buy Station for $5000. Finding keycard drops can be quick if lucky but tedious if they don’t drop at all. The keycards are needed to unlock the Strongholds to find the item to complete the “Storm The Stronghold” mission.
The fastest way to get into Strongholds is to take up specific contracts that send players to these buildings as its objective. Pick up these contracts for quick access to Strongholds:
- Secure Hostage contract
- Raid a Weapon Cache contract
These contracts will send you to enter Strongholds without the keycard. Completing the contract is optional unless you want the extra loot and money obtained from this side mission.
Clearing the Stronghold
Head to the Stronghold and you will need to fight off a bunch of enemies. Clearing may take a good amount of time so make sure that you don’t have competition. Or have proximity chat enabled to potentially team up.
Enemies
Most Stronghold guards will be heavily armored and have stronger guns when fought. It’s best to fight the guards behind the cover as they hit hard and take more hits before being taken down.
The main problem in these fights is the shielded guards. Those are the thickest enemies in Warzone 2 DMZ except for the bosses and will take a lot of your ammo, so make use of your tactical and lethals, especially when clearing the stronghold solo.
White Lotus Intel
The White Lotus Intel drops from the Stronghold guards but it is not an assured drop from the Stronghold guards. The item may not drop at all when raiding one Stronghold. If this happens, check your map again for another Stronghold to fight to find this item.
Once the intel is picked up, you need to successfully finish the match by leaving through an exfil site on the map.
How to Extract Intel Safely
Picking the correct exfil site requires you to check the map for the two major high-risk objectives on the map.
The Radiation Zone is the starting area of the damaging “Battle Royale ring” for the Warzone 2 DMZ mode. This zone will start growing in size once the timer runs out and remove exfil areas that it touches. However, the exfil areas are still usable if it’s still far from the zone even when it starts growing.
Weapon Case areas drop the best weapon loot in a DMZ match. Many players will be scrambling for the case. Players securing the case will most likely go to the nearest exfil area for a quick getaway. Others may attempt to steal it. And you don’t want to be near the fights if you want to safely secure the intel.
Try to find the exfil area that is far from both these areas for a cleaner getaway. Find cover near the exfil area as you wait for the chopper to arrive after calling it to the DMZ. These three zones will also be different for every Warzone 2 DMZ game.
Keep guarding all the entrances to the chopper once you’re in. Other players can still steal your chopper for themselves as long as it hasn’t left the DMZ.
Successfully extracting the intel unlocks the White Lotus missions. Clearing White Lotus missions are required to unlock more quests and Warzone 2 DMZ content. Clearing more mission tiers will unlock more features like additional insured slots.
